One of the biggest mysteries coming out of Star Wars Rebels and going into the upcoming Ahsoka series was the Rebels epilogue.

It never had a place in the Star Wars timeline, and to this point, nothing in the Ahsoka promotional material seemed to indicate it, either. That is until the latest Ahsoka trailer dropped.

It seems like we will finally get to see when the Rebels epilogue takes place. Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo) watches a hologram of Ezra Bridger (Eman Esfandi). This part is exciting because it’s the first time we hear Esfandi voice Ezra, and he sounds fantastic.

When the hologram ends, Sabine then cuts her long hair. This act is a significant symbol in Japanese culture, and as Studio Ghibli’s Princess Mononoke was a significant influence on showrunner Dave Filoni, it’s no surprise that he is using imagery prevalently seen in anime.

For the rest of the trailer, we see Sabine with her familiar short hair that she wore in the epilogue of “Family Reunion… and Farewell,” where she greets Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson). The series even reenacts the final moments with Sabine tapping Ezra’s face on the mural of the Ghost crew.

The only real odd point in the Ahsoka trailer is that the ex-Jedi appears in her grey robes. In the Star Wars Rebels finale, she wore white robes. This garb is what gained her the moniker “Ahsoka the White” as a nod to Gandalf the Grey’s transformation in The Lord of the Rings, another favorite inspiration of Dave Filoni.

Of course, the swap of robes could also be Hollywood trailer magic to help hide bigger reveals. It wouldn’t be the first time a show or movie had deceiving trailers to hide secrets.

As the Ahsoka series looms closer with the August 23rd release, it seems like one of the biggest lingering mysteries of Star Wars Rebels can finally be put to rest. With a two-episode series premiere, Ahsoka is setting up to be a wild ride!
