The latest trailer from Young Jedi Adventures gives fans the first look at High Republic fan favorite characters Padawan Bell Zettifar, his trusty charhound Ember, and Master Estala Maru.

Setting up what to expect in the upcoming batch of episodes, there are plenty of standout moments in the trailer for the Disney Junior show. It provides a brief but exciting look at Bell sliding down a tree root into action and Ember belting her fire breath at an adversary. Jedi Master Estala Maru welcomes the Tenoo crew to Starlight Beacon, firmly setting Young Jedi Adventures before the events of Light of the Jedi by Charles Soule. There also appears to be a Life Day episode on the horizon, as noted in the This Week in Star Wars dispatch video.

When it was announced that book characters were joining the cast for an episode, fans rejoiced with the reveal of Bell Zettifar, Loden Greatstorm, and Estala Maru. Grown-ish’s Marcus Scribner voices Bell, Riverdale’s Matthew Yang King will portray Loden, and Critical Role’s Liam O’Brien returns to Star Wars as Estala Maru. O’Brien is the voice of Lieutenant Yogar Lyste in Star Wars Rebels, Bolo in The Bad Batch, and worked in The Old Republic: Shadow of Revan and Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order.

Of course, it was also met with dread as any fans of the High Republic know the phrase “Star Wars is tragedy” all too well. With Phase I ending with a mess of Jedi perishing and Phase III kicking off with padawans and younglings training for war, should fans fear for Kai, Lys, and Nubs? I don’t think so, as Cavan Scott didn’t seem to indicate it in his exclusive interview with IGN, saying:

"“Star Wars is Star Wars, no matter who you’re telling it for,” Scott says. “The central beats of Star Wars, the hope, the adventure, the fun, they’re throughout everything. It’s the lens you see those stories through that changes. So you obviously have to be careful. The kind of story you tell in an adult novel is very different to the kind of story you tell in a kid’s comic, for example, or a TV show. But again, the basis of the stories, the values they’re built upon, the kind of character relationships we’re trying to establish, they work no matter what age group and as said, no matter what medium.”"

New episodes of Young Jedi Adventures are coming on November 8 on Disney+ and Disney Junior. Check out the new trailer below.
