Ahsoka Season 2 rumors: There's no need to panic about Ahsoka's future
A handful of Star Wars rumors continue to float around as we await Skeleton Crew, the next Star Wars live-action series.
The latest rumor is from insider Daniel Richtman regarding the future of Ahsoka, which stars Rosario Dawson. Season 2 of Ahsoka films next year, but according to Richtman, this could be the show's final chapter.
Via ScreenRant, according to Richtman, Dave Filoni is planning to design Ahsoka Season 2 as a definitive ending to the series. This is just a rumor for now and hasn't been confirmed by any other sources. Therefore, it's too early to panic based on one rumor. Filoni may have the mindset of being safe rather than sorry, with shows like The Book of Boba Fett and The Acolyte getting the axe after one season.
It's well known that Ahsoka Tano is one of Filoni's greatest legacies in Star Wars, and he's planned whatever comes next for her for years. Even if he only began writing Ahsoka a few months ago, he likely had a general idea of where he wanted to take Tano for years. With Filoni already committed to the Mandalorian-era crossover film, he should write Ahsoka Season 2 as the end of the series. But this doesn't mean the show is doomed.
Whatever happens after The Mandalorian and Grogu, Ahsoka Season 2, and the Mandalorian-era crossover event depends on the success of all these projects. The Mandalorian era shows, including Ahsoka, have played a massive role in the rise of Disney+ despite tough competition from other streaming platforms. Ending the Mando era series one after the other is not the wisest idea, and there's no confirmation the era will end for good after the Mando crossover movie. Lucasfilm hasn't gone into great detail about what lies ahead for this era.
If these upcoming projects are well received, there's always a chance Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni will return to this era and do more with all these characters, including Ahsoka. With Season 2 poised to answer several questions, curiosity for Season 2 may be higher than Season 1. Rumors also suggest Hayden Christensen could return once again as Anakin Skywalker, plus Peridea and the World Between Worlds are set to feature heavily.
Whatever happens with the series, trust Filoni to do right by Ahsoka Tano, as the character has been appreciated and loved for years and shares a strong bond with The Chosen One. In my opinion, the future of Ahsoka and all Mandalorian-era characters now rests on how the upcoming projects perform. If these shows and movies are a hit, Lucasfilm will find a way to give the audiences even more of them.
Ahsoka is streaming on Disney+.
