Rosario Dawson just attended Fan Expo Canada. In a panel with Jo Deckelmeier, the actress revealed her favorite Ahsoka moment, and it comes from the live-action debut of the character. According to ScreenRant, Rosario's favorite Ahsoka moment took place during the filming of The Mandalorian, Chapter 13, "The Jedi," and it's a sweet moment between her and Grogu.
Dawson's favorite moment is a shot of her pressing her forehead against Grogu's, and it's an image we've all probably seen already. It's included in the behind-the-scenes footage of the making of "The Jedi," and a lot of fans have drawn their own version of that sweet moment between two Force sensitive beings meeting each other for, perhaps, the first time. Here's exactly what Dawson has to say about it:
"Grogu. In The Mandalorian, I did that shot that you see sort of behind the scenes stuff where I put my forehead to his forehead and I remember doing it in the scene and thinking this is too much, right? I'm probably getting orange on his forehead and Dave was going to say something and be like, this doesn't work. And then it wasn't in the scene and I was like, okay. Yeah. And then it was all over everywhere else. He loved it and he actually drew it for me and so it was a really, really sweet spot."Rosario Dawson.
It's a bummer that this adorable moment had to be cut from the episode, but it would be great if Rosario gets another chance to film a scene like this with Grogu. Their bond is extremely heartwarming, and for Grogu, it must've meant a lot to meet a kind and gentle Jedi after so many years, who helps reveal his story to Din Djarin. Had it not been for their meeting, perhaps Din would still be unaware of Grogu's name. That episode balanced Rosario's debut as Ahsoka, Grogu's backstory, and Din's excitement at learning Grogu's name.
That's not all, as this episode takes us inside Din's head, and we get to see that he's unhappy about having to let Grogu get trained by a Jedi. He knows their separation is getting closer, and even if Ahsoka doesn't train him, someone will. Neither of the two wants to be separated from each other. Aside from that, I always found it interesting how happy and light Ahsoka seemed around Grogu and Din. She smiles more with them in Chapter 13 than she does in the first five episodes of Ahsoka. I wonder if this is a detail that Dave Filoni deliberately included.
For now, there's no chance of a reunion between Ahsoka, Grogu, and Din Djarin, as Tano is stuck in Peridea and has to find her way home. Once she's back, we'd love to see this trio reunite because, as Din famously says in this episode, "A Mandalorian and a Jedi, they'll never see it coming."
The Mandalorian and Ahsoka are streaming on Disney+.
