After she made me watch the first season episode, "Bibo," one more time, my daughter, Brooklyn, and I finally started Season 2 of Star Wars Resistance. The second season has a lot more stakes for the characters and continues on the first season's path of very strong progression for each of the characters.
Brooklyn seems to have grasped that concept while still having plenty to enjoy. In the first episode of the season, "Into the Unknown," Brooklyn enjoyed seeing CB-23 and even commented that she sounds like a girl droid. During the episode, she was also surprised that General Organa, whom she knows as Princess Leia, showed up, and I had to explain that Leia can and was both a princess and a general.
Towards the end of "Into the Unknown," the most poignant moment was when Brooklyn realized that Tam Ryvora was working for the First Order, and she actually covered her eyes when Tam put on the pilot's black helmet. I wish I could tell Brooklyn that Tam's story does get better throughout Season 2.

The next two episodes of the season focus on the planet Celsor 3, where the members of the Colossus are both looking to work together and find supplies and food on the Hoth-like planet. Of course, both Synara San and Torra Doza are featured heavily in both episodes, much to Brooklyn's liking. She even commented that Captain Doza, Torra's dad, should only trust Synara as one of the pirates.
Her favorite part of Torra may be the colors of her ship, which are orange and blue. In "Hunt of Celsor 3," she was happy that Torra's pet, Buggles, returned and smiled when he slipped onto Kazuda's ship.
Star Wars Resistance's second season is slowly getting darker, and many choices will soon be made by strong female characters. The journeys that Tam and Synara go on will show Brooklyn what happens when both make the right choices. I am curious how she will react to some of the heavier storylines, but she seems to understand the stakes and enjoys where the story is going. Despite Resistance being the shortest of the animated series that the franchise has produced, the storyline may be one of the strongest.
The series, as I remember, does wrap rather nicely, and I am hoping that Brooklyn enjoys how the characters end up coming together. The rest of the season has a lot of strong stories of both teamwork and forgiveness, which not only someone of Brooklyn's age but we all could at this time.
