Star Wars fans are a hungry bunch. As much as we complain about Disney+'s oversaturation of Star Wars content, we're also the first to jump on the hype train when news of our favorite show starts to come out. With Andor in the books—and grabbing a fistful of Emmy noms—we're set to wait for the return of Ahsoka.
The first official photo from Ahsoka season 2 just dropped at SDCC, and the internet is already buzzing. The updated Ezra, portrayed once again by the talented Eman Esfandi, appears more seasoned, more confident, and sporting the "hero jacket," according to one X post.

Ahsoka launched in August 2023 and followed the events of the Star Wars Rebels animated series. While Rosario Dawson headlines the show as titled Ahsoka, fans saw the return of beloved characters like Hera Syndulla (played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead), Sabine Wren (Natasha Liu Bordizzo), and the man in question: Ezra Bridger (Esfandi), who showed off his lightning-quick lightsaber training here.
Fans were also treated to the fantastic additions of Baylon Skoll (played by the late Ray Stevenson) and his apprentice, Shin Hati (Ivanna Sakhno). The big baddie returns as the ever-feared Grand Admiral Thrawn.
While Ahsoka Season 1 ended with Ezra finally returning from exile after years stranded in another galaxy, fans didn’t know exactly what to expect from the character’s return in season 2. Now, they’ve got their first glimpse—and the response has been overwhelmingly positive.

For many, this is the version of Ezra they’ve been waiting to see since 2018—a mature, war-tested Jedi Knight who emerged from wild space with new wisdom and a purpose.
Ezra’s character arc is among the most complex in modern Star Wars canon. Introduced in Star Wars Rebels as a streetwise orphan with latent Force sensitivity, he grew into a formidable Jedi through mentorship under Kanan Jarrus. His sacrifice—vanishing into hyperspace with Grand Admiral Thrawn—was one of the most emotional moments in the animated series, leaving fans wondering about his fate for years.
Season 1 of Ahsoka gave us the long-awaited answer (SPOILERS): Ezra survived, but was marooned in another galaxy, living among the Noti and staying off Thrawn’s radar. While his screen time was limited last season, fans appreciated Eman Esfandi’s faithful, gentle portrayal of the older Ezra.
With season 2 set to dive deeper into Thrawn’s return and the state of the Jedi legacy, Ezra’s updated appearance hints that he’ll play a more central role—possibly even joining Ahsoka in a full-blown galactic confrontation.
Too bad we've still got a ways to wait to find out.
