Hayden Christensen’s latest tease might mean great news for potential Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2
Good news, Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi fans; there may be more "brotherhood" in the works, according to Hayden Christensen.
Christensen attended GalaxyCon Columbus, where he shared an exciting update about Anakin and Obi-Wan's future. The X user @crabtree_cody revealed that Christensen was kind enough to chat with several fans in attendance. In a conversation with the actor, one fan told him that he and McGregor needed to get together for some more Anakin and Obi-Wan, "before it's too late."
Christensen replied to the fan and said, "We got some stuff brewing," which may hint that more projects starring the duo are under discussion. While this can be anything, including flashbacks in Ahsoka season 2, which will be filmed in the UK next year, it's more likely that Christensen just dropped a hint about Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2.
If true, this goes along with a positive Kenobi season 2 update provided by McGregor at Los Angeles ComicCon earlier this year. Though we don't have a renewal, a second season is at least being discussed. In that case, fans have much to be excited about, especially as Lucasfilm has had plenty of time to note all the negative and positive reactions to season 1. McGregor and Christensen know what fans want this time, which makes going into season 2 a lot less daunting.
A potential second season of the Kenobi series could incorporate Clone Wars era flashbacks, and Christensen's reply at GalaxyCon hints that there's more Anakin and Obi-Wan on the way. Season 1 already explored the heartbreaking end to their relationship, and Vader and Kenobi can't cross paths again until A New Hope. However, as season 1 ends with Obi-Wan in a positive mindset, we can expect him to remember Anakin fondly in season 2, which opens the door to more flashbacks.
Obi-Wan Kenobi season 2 can borrow from comics and other material to give us an insight into the Jedi Master's quiet years on Tatooine, as he watched over Luke Skywalker. For Christensen, season 2 would offer another opportunity to step into the shoes of Anakin Skywalker. His work in Ahsoka has received a lot of appreciation, especially for how easily he became Clone Wars-era Anakin, and perhaps this is the route season 2 of Kenobi could take. Fans expected more Obi-Wan and Anakin flashbacks in season 1 and were left disappointed, but season 2 would be unlikely to repeat that mistake.
Another season of Obi-Wan Kenobi would also give McGregor and Christensen another opportunity to work together again. They share a warm friendship off-screen, and Christensen made a heartwarming speech when McGregor received his star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame a few months ago. There's every indication that this duo loves working together, and their promising updates are a clear sign that another glorious chapter in Anakin and Obi-Wan's bittersweet bond awaits us.
Obi-Wan Kenobi is streaming on Disney+.
