Dave Filoni gives updates on Ahsoka and his Mandoverse crossover movie

Dave Filoni is a busy man these days as the Chief Creative Officer at Lucasfilm with multiple major upcoming releases in the works that he's actively involved in as a writer and producer.

According to ComicBook.com, in the latest episode of Josh Horowitz's Happy Sad and Confused podcast, Dave Filoni and Ahsoka's Rosario Dawson and Hayden Christensen discussed their collaboration on Ahsoka Season 1. Filoni took the opportunity to update fans on what's coming up and confirmed that he's in the process of Ahsoka Season 2.

According to Filoni, working on the story for Ahsoka Season 2 is giving him a better idea of where things are going:

"Because I've been writing [Ahsoka Season 2], things have clicked and I have a much better idea about where things are going to go..."

He explained that while he's currently focused on the next season of Ahsoka, but he already has the Mandalorian crossover movie on his mind and has come up with the perfect opening for the film:

"I will say, I have an opening I really like quite a bit, I'm very excited about it for that picture. I'm excited about the potential of just doing it ... Right now, my focus is clearly on [Ahsoka] as well as the rest of the galaxy and how it's spinning..."

Dave Filoni and his collaborator, Jon Favreau, are preparing to film The Mandalorian & Grogu this summer, with Filoni expressing his enthusiasm for the project, stating that it's 'fun to dive into.' The Mandalorian & Grogu is expected to go on floors this month, and filming will take place in Los Angeles and the United Kingdom. There's been buzz that the Mandalorian himself, Pedro Pascal, will be able to make time in his schedule for the Mando movie and the role of Reed Richards in Marvel's Fantastic Four.

The Mandalorian & Grogu is slated for release on May 22, 2026. Meanwhile, Dave Filoni is currently writing Ahsoka Season 2, although a production timeline has yet to be announced. Additionally, Filoni's Mandalorian crossover film is still in development and won't enter production in the near future.
