Star Wars fans with Disney+ praised last year's anthology series of animated shorts titled Star Wars: Tales of the Jedi, and Diana Lee Inosanto (Morgan Elsbeth in Ahsoka) is thrilled to talk about the follow-up series titled Star Wars: Tales of the Empire. As with its predecessor, the series features six short episodes, focusing on two fan-favorite characters to elaborate on their backstory. For example with the debut of Tales of the Jedi, fans were finally gifted Ahsoka’s origin story. With Tales of the Empire, Inosanto teased that fans will learn more about her character’s history when the show drops on May 4, a.k.a. Star Wars Day!
Just as Ahsoka and Dooku were each featured on three episodes in Tales of the Jedi, Tales of the Empire appears to have three episodes dedicated to Diana’s Morgan Elsbeth and three episodes featuring Barriss Offee. With Dooku, we saw various pivotal moments during his time as a Jedi that shed light (or darkness) on why he would abandon the Order and turn to his new Master, Darth Sidious. On a panel with Ahsoka’s Eman Esfandi (Ezra Bridger) at the Calgary Expo 2024, Collider writes about Diana Lee Inosanto’s proclaimed fascination with the shorts, promising, “You will know why Morgan is wired the way she is.”
The panel, moderated by Collider’s Maggie Lovitt, carries on with Diana praising the work of Dave Filoni. She’s excited to explore more of Morgan Elsbeth’s backstory, which Diana claimed has Filoni’s fingerprints all over it, pledging, “You’re going to see more of the history that he would have wanted the world to know.” Given the impact of Tales of the Jedi and Dave Filoni’s deep commitment to the Star Wars canon, Star Wars: Tales of the Empire will surely pack a punch.
Diana also expresses her amazement towards the show’s overall production quality, citing specifically its great visuals and stunning fight sequences. Inosanto shares her adoration for Lucasfilm Animation, shouting out the team that delivered ‘next-level’ animation for the show. The actress, who is an experienced martial artist who trained under her father (actor Dan Inosanto) as well as her godfather, the late great Bruce Lee, praises the show’s impressive martial arts sequences.
Tune into Disney+ for all six episodes of Star Wars: Tales of the Empire on Star Wars Day and check in with Dork Side of the Force for reviews, explainers, recaps, and more!
May the 4th be with you.
