It's the beginning of the end for Andor. Season 2 will be the final season of the series, something that was always planned from the start. And now, thanks to a lovely message from Diego Luna, who plays the titular character Cassian Andor, we know that filming is officially complete.
Sharing on his personal Instagram, Luna said:
"Today is the last day of filming Andor. I could not be more thankful to the entire crew for this amazing experience and the years of hard work.Diego Luna
More than 700 people have worked on this production, and it is impossible to say goodbye and thank you to everyone individually, which is why I write here. THANK YOU for the love and the wonderful experience. See you soon."
At the 2024 Emmy Awards, Diego shared that he was completing his scenes in the following week. Thus, he's been done for sure. But this message wrapped up the entire process as it moves into post-production. I'm sure there might be a reshoot here or there, which is the nature of Hollywood, but overall, this is it for Andor. It is moving towards the endgame for its 2025 release.
Stellan Skarsgard, who plays the ever-mysterious Luthen Rael, shared his own thoughts recently in an interview with Gizmodo his thoughts on his own character's journey. He said:
"I’m satisfied where it goes, yeah. It’s such good writing and it’s Tony Gilroy, I really like to say his lines."Stellan Skarsgard
Andor became an instant fan favorite and is one of the most unique entries into the Star Wars universe. Unafraid to pull its punches, its gritty, highly political storytelling has been praised along with excellent cameos from high-caliber actors like Andy Serkis while still very much feeling like Star Wars.
Andor's second and final season arrives in 2025 to Disney+.
