The Bad Batch Season 3 has many surprises in store for fans and the return of Asajj Ventress is one of the many exciting cameos to come on the show.

The trailer for Season 3 revealed that Ventress is coming back in the series, and fans have had many questions about her return. The series makers quickly addressed any reservations about bringing Ventress back after she died in the novel, Dark Disciple, and The Bad Batch producers assured fans that the show wouldn't break canon. Now, writer Jennifer Corbett and Supervising Director Brad Rau have shed light on what's ahead for Ventress, and there may be more for her to do beyond The Bad Batch Season 3.

Corbett and Rau both promised that the series won't change anything that happened in Dark Disciple and said, "We pulled designs from unaired arcs of the Clone Wars which inspired the novel 'Dark Disciple', and we're not contradicting anything that happened in ‘Dark Disciple’.”

Regardless of whether Ventress's appearance in The Bad Batch breaks canon or not, her return poses many questions, and Rau revealed that those questions may be answered in the future:

"But I will say that not all of the answers to the mystery of interest will be told in The Bad Batch show. There may be future answers down the road in something else. "

This opens the door for Ventress's return in future Star Wars projects, including live-action ones. While it could mean an appearance on Tales of the Jedi, which is, by far, the safest way to bring her back without breaking canon; anything is possible. Could Ventress, a Nightsister hailing from Dathomir, play some kind of role in live-action shows such as Ahsoka? The series brought The Great Mothers into live-action and revealed that Morgan Elsbeth was a Nightsister too.

If upcoming projects are set to focus on the Nightsisters and Dathomir then Ventress's return could tie into several projects. Her return may not be a coincidence as the makers of The Bad Batch have repeatedly confirmed that the show has connections to many other Star Wars stories. For now, fans are just wondering whether Ventress is alive during The Bad Batch Season 3, or if her appearance is a flashback to The Clone Wars era's unfinished arcs.
