Skeleton Crew director promises something very different for Star Wars
Minari and Twisters director Lee Isaac Chung was behind the camera for an episode of Skeleton Crew, and he says he can't wait for everyone to watch the show when it releases later this year. Chung is not a newbie when it comes to directing for Star Wars. He previously directed The Mandalorian Chapter 19, "The Convert." Thanks to Jon Watts, he's back in a galaxy far, far away.
Skeleton Crew is created by Spider-Man director Jon Watts and Christopher Ford, and stars Jude Law. The show is yet another Mandoverse spinoff set during The Mandalorian timeline. While discussing his work on Skeleton Crew with GamesRadar+, Chung praised Jon Watts and shared his excitement for what he believes is a brand new experience set in the Star Wars galaxy:
" It’s got a lot of Jon Watts in it, and anyone who’s a fan of what Jon Watts does – he’s very childlike in a beautiful way, in the way that he tells stories and how he captures a childlike perspective in things. He brings that beautiful perspective to this story of young people in the Star Wars universe."

He adds that the scripts and overall design of the show impressed him. Chung credits Jon Watts and the incredible cast and crew behind the series, for making Skeleton Crew an amazing experience for him:
"I felt like I hadn’t seen this. When I read all of the scripts, and when I was looking at the design of what he was designing – he asked if I would be on board. It was a no-brainer for me once I saw what he was working on. And then, also, working with him on that show, and with Jude and all the incredible actors who we have – it was a lot of fun. We were just having fun all the time. The kids were incredible and great."

We don't know much about Skeleton Crew but based on the little we know, it's a coming-of-age adventure story set during the New Republic era. Chung made it clear that it's a family show that he hopes families will enjoy together:
"What I hope is that it’s really going to touch families, and families are going to want to spend a lot of time with the show."

Skeleton Crew has also been a victim of merchandise leaks that have been the only source of information regarding the show. Jude Law plays a Jedi, but not much else is known about the show apart from its young cast. A few insiders reported that Nevarro would play a key role in its plot, with some speculating that perhaps Din Djarin and Grogu may appear. Gorian Shard's pirate gang, last seen in The Mandalorian Season 3, was also rumored to return in the series, but nothing has been confirmed. With so little known about the plot, Skeleton Crew has a chance to surprise everyone.
An official premiere date hasn't been announced but Skeleton Crew sounds like it would be the perfect Christmas show.
Skeleton Crew will premiere later this year on Disney+.
