Skeleton Crew: Jude Law's character has multiple names

"Jod" might not actually be the real name of Jude Law's character.

We've had many Force users in hiding with stories in a post-Order 66 timeline in Star Wars. This is not new territory, and oftentimes, these characters take different names to help hide from Imperials. Is the latest character to do this Star Wars: Skeleton Crew's Jod Na Nawood? Star Jude Law might have confirmed that, saying his character has multiple names.

Speaking to Rotten Tomatoes at D23 Expo 2024 via Collider, Law explained, "I play a character called Jod. Well, that’s one of his names. He is someone they meet and who is there to sort of try and help them back to their home planet. And you never quite know whether he's trustworthy, whether he isn’t trustworthy, whether he’s with one side or another — you never quite know. But ultimately, he’s a member of the crew. Some of them want him a part of it. Some of them don’t want him a part of it."

Jod would join the ranks of other Jedi who took on different names like Obi-Wan Kenobi and Caleb Dume. Obi-Wan famously went by "Ben" in the original trilogy and in his titular series, Obi-Wan Kenobi. Caleb Dume has had a couple of Order 66 stories in his comic Kanan: The Last Padawan and again in The Bad Batch's opening episode "Aftermath." Regardless of which story you read, the Jedi padawan takes on the name Kanan Jarrus, one of the leaders of the Ghost crew in Star Wars Rebels.

What is interesting is that we don't know what kind of Force user Jod is. There has been no official confirmation that he is an ex-Jedi. He could have been someone who found out they were Force-sensitive after the Empire took over and never got any real training. Maybe he's one of the children who was hidden in The Path that we saw in Obi-Wan Kenobi. That could be an interesting take on Jod, as we've had so many Jedi in hiding narratives.

We'll have to wait until December 3 when Skeleton Crew comes to Disney+.
