While not officially confirmed by Lucasfilm, showrunner Leslye Headland has apparently confirmed Season 2 is in the works.

After the reveal of the first trailer, a new poster, and the list of directors and the composer, news about Star Wars: The Acolyte keeps on coming. This one is from the showrunner Leslye Headland, who seemed to lowkey confirm that Season 2 is already in the works.

Speaking in an interview with Collider's Steve Weintraub, Headland was discussing which book characters we may or may not see in Season 1. It's already been confirmed that fan-favorite Jedi from the books, Vernestra Rwoh, played by Headland's wife Rebecca Henderson, is in the show. In fact, she can be seen in the trailer and was part of the new images released.

While discussing Vernestra and how the Jedi Master is the only book character in Season 1, Headland casually dropped that a Season 2 is already on the way. She told Collider not to expect other book characters until Season 2, saying:

"I'm gonna be straight with you. They do not. Part of that is because I wanted to save some people for Season 2. I really focused on Vern. Vern was a character that really jumped out at me immediately as someone that I wanted to see as an arc for where we were with the Jedi when we come into this story . A character that started out as a prodigy, someone powerfully connected to the Force, almost in love with the Force, but also sassy enough to make her lightsaber into a whip. Someone [with] that experimentation, that energy, and then to see who she is in our show, and see what happens over the course of becoming a more and more powerful Jedi, and going from mission after mission, to council meetings, and protocol, and 'how do we keep this institution going, how do we check it, how do we negotiate the level of power that we have.' She's massively respected and considered to be one of the most powerful Jedi at this particular time period."

It's important to note this isn't an official confirmation from Lucasfilm, so there is a grain of salt to this information. Still, coming from the showrunner is compelling and a pretty good indicator that The Acolyte is not a miniseries but an ongoing one.

We'll have to see how Season 1 ends. Star Wars: The Acolyte arrives on Disney+ on June 4.
