Star Wars: The Acolyte's official premiere date revealed
Star Wars: The Acolyte will premiere on Disney+ on June 4th, 2024, as revealed by Star Wars on their official social media accounts today.
The highly anticipated series created by Leslye Headland, stars Amandla Stenberg, Lee Jung-jae, Manny Jacinto, Dafne Keen, Charlie Barnett, Jodie Turner-Smith, Rebecca Henderson, Dean-Charles Chapman, Joonas Suotamo, and Carrie-Anne Moss.
The Acolyte takes Star Wars live-action to a pre-Skywalker Saga era, a previously uncharted territory in the franchise. Sey roughly 50 years before the events of Episode I: The Phantom Menace, this era, called The High Republic, has only been seen in the Emmy Award-winning animated preschool series Young Jedi Adventures. The Acolyte will explore the rise of the Dark Side in an era otherwise dominated by Light Side users, which is considered the Golden Age of the Republic.
According to the synopsis, The Acolyte is about:
"
- StarWars.com
“A former Padawan (Stenberg) reunites with her Jedi Master (Jung-jae) to investigate a series of crimes, but discovers the forces they confront are more sinister than they ever anticipated.” "
The Acolyte will be the first Star Wars live-action series premiering this year and will most likely be followed by Skeleton Crew in the fall. This is after last year's double dose of live-action Star Wars with The Mandalorian Season 3 and Ahsoka Season 1.
With the poster also being revealed today, a trailer for the highly anticipated show is the only thing left, and it has been revealed that the trailer will drop tomorrow, Tuesday, March 19. This Noir-inspired series promises lots of lightsabers, lots of aliens, and a whole lot of Jedi Knights as a darkness rises.
The Acolyte premieres June 4th only on Disney+.
