The Bad Batch season 3, episode 12 recap: [Spoiler] is back and pulling a Hux
This article has full spoilers to The Bad Batch Season 3, episode 12, "Juggernaut."
The last episode of The Bad Batch Season 3, “Point of No Return,” really lived up to its name. With Omega volunteering to be taken by the Empire to spare Pabu and the Batch having no leads where to find her, this week’s episode is primed to be an exciting one. Let’s recap everything that happened in “Juggernaut.”
We open with pretty ominous music as Omega arrives back on Mount Tantiss, where Doctor Royce Hemlock is waiting for her. He brings her to Doctor Emerie Karr, demanding Omega be tested immediately to confirm their suspicions about her blood being the key to Project Necromancer. He leaves the women alone. Omega tries to talk Emerie out of it, but Emerie isn’t quite ready for Rebellion yet, starting the tests.
We hop over to Pabu where there is still a big Star Destroyer hanging out over the island. However, the baddies are, thankfully, leaving. Hunter and Batcher make it to Crosshair and Wrecker (who has mostly recovered from his injuries last week). They have no ship and no leads to finding Omega…
…or do they?
Crosshair brings up one other person who MIGHT know where Tantiss is: Admiral Rampart, the big bad from the first half of the show. He sent Nala Se to Tantiss so he might know how to get there. It’s not like they can trust Rampart, you know, after he blew up the clones’ home on Kamino, tried to frame them for it, and got their rights taken away in the senate (see Season 2 for all of this). But it is their only option at this point.
They’re interrupted by the arrival of AZI and Phee Genoa. As she’s the only one with a working ship at the moment, she joins their mission. They are off to an Imperial labor camp on Erebus.
Jumping straight to Erebus, there is Rampart with a new beard and shaggy look working with an Ugnaught. He's having a horrible time, which makes me happy. Rampart's a horrible person. Let him suffer.
Briefing for the mission, Phee got a map of the labor camp on Erebus and can sneak the Batch in. After that, they’re on their own. It’s time for them to move out.
Phee daringly slides her ship in with the engines off (scaring the heck out of Batch in the process), and they arrive on Erebus. She drops off the Batch, and they slip into the first checkpoint. It just so happens that Rampart has finished his shift and is about to be transported back to the prison from the mine. Hunter wants to grab him from the tank, which makes Wrecker very excited!
They hop on the tank as it rolls by, taking out the driver and the stormtroopers. Rampart is surprised to see Crosshair, and they snark at each other. However, there are plenty of other prisoners on the ship, too. So they pull over and let all prisoners out except Rampart.
Who has figured they need him for something. He agrees that if they get him off the planet, he will tell them where Tantiss is.
Meanwhile, the Imperials have figured out that the Batch has taken the tank. They send out their troops to intercept. It’s a tank vs tank fight on the bridge! Awesome. The Batch get past the tank and speeds out into the wilderness. In the process, Crosshair stuns Rampart to shut him up.
The Empire swoops in airships! With comms jammed, they don’t have a way to call Phee for their pickup. Stormtroopers drop onto the ship and take out their canons and controls. Thankfully, Phee zooms in and picks them up just in time. With that, they get the heckin heck out of there.
They wake up Rampart, and of course, it’s not a simple answer to find Tantiss. No one person knows Tantiss' coordinates. He says he might know how to get around that. As long as the Batch needs him, they’re all in this together.
On Tantiss, Emerie has finished testing Omega’s blood. It’s what the Empire is looking for. Hemlock takes Omega down to the vault to join the other Force-sensitive kids. This is where "Juggernaut" comes to an end.
