August was a bit of a weird month for Star Wars comics. We're in this in-between period where several series either wrapped or are about to end next month. The final months of this year will be exciting, with several major comic events to set up 2025. Doctor Aphra, who has always been a fan favorite, is returning. It's an exciting time to be a fan of Star Wars comics!

However, this week might not be the most interesting, but let's dive into another edition of This Week in Star Wars Comics.

Star Wars: Ahsoka #2

I feel like a broken record when it comes to these comic adaptations, but really, there's not much to say about them. So far, it doesn't look like Star Wars: Ahsoka is doing what the excellent Rogue One: A Star Wars Story adaptation did by adding in new scenes and content. However if you're a fan of the show and want to see some new artwork of your favorite characters, then these are for you. Ahsoka #2 is written by Rodney Barnes, the artist is Georges Jeanty, and the cover artist is Taurin Clark.

Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures Volume 1 (Phase III)

One trade paperback is out this week. Collecting the all ages comic from Dark Horse Comics is Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures Volume 1 which has the first 5 issues of the Phase III run. It picks up one year after the fall of Starlight Beacon with Zeen and Qort still searching for their lost friends while still battling the villainous Nihil. It might not be the best starting point for a new reader. It very much builds on the Phase I story. However, if you've been keeping up with the adventures of Lula, Zeen, Qort, and Farzala, this is a must have. Star Wars: The High Republic Adventures Volume 1 is written by Daniel José Older and illustrated by Harvey Tolibao.

And that's it for the month of August when it comes to Star Wars Comics. September will see the end of the mainline Star Wars and Darth Vader comics, so there will be plenty to talk about next time in This Week in Star Wars Comics!

See you in the splash pages!
