Lucasfilm has seemingly revealed some of the directorial team behind Ahsoka season 2, and it’s all but guaranteed to deliver everything fans are hoping for.
According to credits recently spotted by Star Wars News Net and shared across social platforms, Ahsoka season 2 will feature episodes by:
- Dave Filoni (series creator and showrunner)
- Bryce Dallas Howard (daughter of Ron Howard, whose previous Star Wars credits include The Mandalorian, Book of Boba Fett, and Skeleton Crew)
- Jennifer Getzinger (returning after her work on Season 1's “Far, Far Away”)
- Anders Engström (known for Percy Jackson and the Olympians and See)
This lineup combines Lucasfilm’s current creative pillars with a couple of fresh voices. Here's why they matter:
Dave Filoni leads the charge, steering the overall narrative while contributing his signature passion for the character and lore. In April 2023, Filoni was promoted to Chief Creative Officer of Lucasfilm—an indication of how pivotal his vision is across the franchise.
Bryce Dallas Howard is the only director to have directed episodes across The Mandalorian, Book of Boba Fett, Skeleton Crew, and now Ahsoka. One Reddit thread noted, “mark it.. the BDH episode will be the best of the season,” echoing the general fan sentiment that she is a major asset to the franchise.
Jennifer Getzinger brings season 1 experience and deep insight into the show’s characters and tone. Her return signals continuity at a time when Ahsoka has the potential to dive even deeper into themes that it began exploring during its freshman run.
Anders Engström is a fascinating wild card. His work on fantasy-heavy shows like Percy Jackson suggests he may oversee storytelling related to the Mortis-gods mythology, previously teased for this season.
What's next for Ahsoka season 2
- The cast and crew of Ahsoka season 2 started production in April 2025 in the UK.
- Storylines will reportedly pick up with Rosario Dawson’s Ahsoka Tano and Sabine Wren stranded on Peridea, with Thrawn and Ezra Bridger returning.
- Expect deep dives into Mortis mythology, new Force battles, plus returning favorites like Anakin Skywalker (Hayden Christensen) and Admiral Ackbar.
Ahsoka season 2 is shaping up to bring more popular Rebels themes into the live-action canon. Lucasfilm’s decision to crowd-source directorial talent, like they have with other Disney+ series, keeps the storytelling layered.
The season should effectively blend Filoni’s long-game vision with directors who bring their own viewpoints to the Star Wars universe.
With the core team firmly in place, fans can expect a sophomore season that stays true to its roots while venturing into uncharted Force territory. Those Mortis gods don’t know what’s coming.
