Filming for Ahsoka Season 2 is officially underway!
It was confirmed at Star Wars Celebration 2025 in Japan a little more than a week ago that filming was starting right after the event. And now, thanks to a post from the series' star, we know it has officially begun.
Rosario Dawson shared on her Instagram account a photo of her shadow on some asphalt. However, she's wearing very familiar-looking montrals and lekku on her head. There is also a peek at her costume's pants and shoes. In the text, she says, "And we're off... to galaxies far, far away...!"
Four confirmed on-screen things are coming in 2026, and Ahsoka Season 2 is one of them. My speculation is that it will be the fall or winter release show. The Mandalorian & Grogu has a May release in theaters. I would suspect that Maul: Shadow Lord will take the January or February slot, which would follow the last two seasons of The Bad Batch's release dates.
The outlier in all of this is the new Star Wars: Visions limited anime series expanding on the short, "The Ninth Jedi." If they follow Visions' normal pattern, they would release the entire limited series in a day. However, I could see them putting that one into the Fall/September release to spread over a few weeks. This could stick Ahsoka into a winter release of December, like The Book of Boba Fett and Skeleton Crew did. It would give the show as much time as possible to finish the season while still hitting a 2026 release. Or maybe Ahsoka will be the September release with Visions taking the winter slot. Either way, it for sure won't be in early 2026.
There's a lot to look forward to with Ahsoka Season 2. We look forward to its release next year.
