There is much anticipation for the upcoming Star Wars series, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. There also is much speculation. The stars of the series will be the actors portraying the young children and their mentor on the series, played by Jude Law. However, many questions surround the supporting characters that will inhabit the show.
One is who Jaleel White will play. White, known for his portrayal of ABC's Steve Urkel on Family Matters, will play a pirate in the series. Not much is known about the character. As of now, the only information is the name of his character, a cyborg named Gunter.
He has been seen in the trailer a few times and a promotional still was released featuring White. One of the creators, Christopher Ford, recently told Entertainment Weekly who White and the other characters seen in the shots and images.
“Those are pirates! Space pirates," Ford said. "We've seen some awesome pirates in the animated shows. So, this was something where both Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau were really excited to do more pirate stuff.”
Not much else is known about the pirates' role or White's role. However, if he does play a cyborg, it will not be at the same time as it would be portrayed in the franchise. The character of Skad in The Book of Boba Fett resembles the kind of cyborg that White will play.
White is no stranger to being involved in a popular franchise. He voiced the character of Sonic in the Sonic the Hedgehog series that ran from 1993 and 1994 and returned to voice the role in 1996's Sonic Christmas Blast.
As the series' premiere of December 3 gets closer, more details should be revealed about both White's character and Skeleton Crew itself. Each piece of new news to drop will be met with much anticipation.
