Happy New Year! It's a quiet week in the world of Star Wars comics. Looking ahead at January (which you can see the full list here), this month is a bit transitional. The ongoing comic book event, The Battle of Jakku, will wrap up, along with several miniseries. And then peeking to the next month, February has even fewer books, but several major series are kicking off like Legacy of Vader. However, I'm getting ahead of myself. Let's dive into the two books that flipped the calendar this week from 2024 to the new year.

This Week in Star Wars Comics is Ahsoka #7 and the final Darth Vader trade paperback from Greg Pak's run

Ahsoka #7

Instead of regurgitating for the seventh time my same spiel about this series, I'd rather say that I hope the release of the upcoming The Rise of Skywalker adaptation breathes life back into these kinds of series. It's already confirmed that it will have deleted scenes from the film in comic book form. One of our writers expressed last year in an article how pointless these TV show adaptations feel, and he's right. If you love seeing your favorite characters in different artwork or just a completionist, that's about the only incentive to get these. Even manga like the Star Wars: Visions adaptation did some new things, adding to their stories. Going forward, I hope future TV comics do more. These are talented artists and writers. Let them do more.

Ahsoka #7 is written by Rodney Barnes, illustrated by Steven Cummings, and the cover artist is Phil Noto.

Darth Vader Vol. 10 – Phantoms

The one trade paperback that dropped on Tuesday as the final comic of 2024 was Darth Vader Vol. 10 - Phantoms. This book had the final three issues of Greg Pak's run of the Sith Lord, including the the 50th mega issue. Part of this book too is Pak's The Phantom Menace 25th Anniversary Special One-shot, illustrated by Will Sliney and cover artist being Phil Noto.

That's it for This Week in Star Wars Comics! See you in the splash pages!
