J.J. Abrams Tests Conan O’Brian’s Nerd Knowledge In Comic Con Test
By Elaine Tveit
J.J. Abrams, director of Star Wars: The Force Awakens, tested Conan O’Brian’s nerd knowledge with the Comic-Con Citizenship Test.
On last night’s episode of Conan, host Conan O’Brian claimed to be the ultimate Comic-Con geek. Luckily, J.J. Abrams was on hand to make Conan prove his self-given title with the Comic-Con Citizenship Test (via Team Coco). Watch the video of the moment below.
There was only one Star Wars question Abrams asked (I think he should have asked more, but I guess in order to be a true Comic-Con Citizen you need to be aware of the other fandoms besides Star Wars), and it was: What class of ship is the Millennium Falcon? And of course Conan got it right: the Falcon is a Corellian YT-1300 light freighter.

Given how his answers to some of the other questions sounded scripted, though, I’d be intrigued to learn how much Conan really knows about Star Wars. It is possible he came up with all those answers off the top of his head (he is a comedian, after all; quick thinking is part of his job), but I wish someone would give him a legitimate, completely unscripted and completely Star Wars trivia test. Not only would it tell us how much he knows about the franchise, it would make for one awesome episode of Conan for Star Wars fans.
Star Wars trivia is one of those fields where there are different levels of expertise. You have those fans who know every line from every Star Wars film. Then you have those who have read every single Legends story and can tell you the history of Old Republic, the New Republic, and everything in between. And then you have fans like me, who know a little bit of everything but is not an expert in any one area. For example, I can’t tell you anything about the plot of the Knights of the Old Republic video game, but I know the names of some characters from that era, like Darth Revan and Darth Nihilus (that’s what comes of surfing Wookieepedia for an untold amount of hours).
