Han Solo stand alone film casting non-white female lead?
By Corey Smith
In the wake of the report that Disney is casting a young Lando Calrissian in the 2018 young Han Solo movie, it is now rumored Disney is looking for a non-white female lead for the film, as well.
Continuing in the vein of casting non white leads for its upcoming slate of Star Wars films, Disney is reportedly interested in casting a non-white female lead for its upcoming young Han Solo standalone film, at least according to Jeff Sneider, senior film reporter for Mashable.
This should not come as much of a shock after The Force Awakens broke both gender and color barriers for a Star Wars film, casting John Boyega as Finn and of course Daisy Ridley as main protagonist. Until that point, Lando Calrissian had been the only non-white member of the cast.

Rogue One is taking it a step further, with a cast that hails from just about every corner of the globe, and another female lead in Felicity Jones’s Jyn Erso. So it appears Disney remains very keen on the female heroine, but the more important question become whom might this mysterious female lead be playing?
Our friends Latino Review have a rather great idea, and we have to agree with them. Sana Starros is a character in the Marvel comic book series, and was married to Han, long before he ever met Leia Organa. The Marvel comics are considered canon by everyone at Disney, Marvel of course being owned by Disney as well. And while we know that Lando Calrissian will appear in the young Han Solo film, we haven’t yet heard that Leia will appear. And even if she did, Leia and Han would not be involved yet, so we would lose out on the awkward love triangle.
Of course, it’s completely possible and perhaps even likely that the lead character for which Disney is currently casting could be a completely new and as yet unseen character. The possibilities are endless regarding who the character might be, but an ex-girlfriend not exactly happy to see Han could be very intriguing.
