The annual Her Universe Fashion Show at San Diego Comic-Con is now accepting geek franchise-inspired entries for this year’s show through April 19.

Every year since 2014, Her Universe – a geek fashion company targeted primarily at fangirls – has held a fashion show at San Diego Comic-Con. The winners of each fashion show collaborated with Hot Topic to create a unique geek franchise-inspired fashion line.

This year is no different. Her Universe announced in an emailed press release that they are accepting entries for the 2017 Her Universe Fashion Show through April 19. Finalists will be notified by April 30 and will see their designs walk the runway on July 20 at the Manchester Grand Hyatt Hotel in San Diego, CA. A panel of celebrity judges will choose the winning fashions. The designers of those fashions will work with Hot Topic on a new clothing line.

Star Wars was one of the franchises which Her Universe founder Ashley Eckstein built her company on in 2009. As the voice of Ahsoka Tano in The Clone Wars and a fangirl herself, Eckstein understood fangirls’ frustration at the lack of geek fashion tailored for women. Her aim was to create a company that would remedy that lack.

Today, Her Universe offers a variety of Star Wars-themed clothing items. These items include shirts, dresses, skirts, and leggings. The company also sells apparel inspired by other franchise licenses, such as Marvel and Doctor Who. Last year, they announced a new partnership with Hot Topic which allowed them to produce more merchandise as well as granted them access to more franchise licenses. To the latter end, they recently released a new line of activewear for women inspired by DC Comics.

Star Wars is no stranger to the runway. At last year’s show, Ashley Eckstein famously wore a dress made out of LEGOs and inspired by her The Clone Wars character. And in 2016, the winners of the 2015 Her Universe Fashion Show designed a line of clothing inspired by The Force Awakens and the original trilogy.  So if you are a fashion designer with a love of Star Wars, the Her Universe Fashion Show is the perfect place to submit your ideas.
