The heroine of the Force Awakens and upcoming The Last Jedi, will finally be added to the American version of Star Wars Monopoly…

After recently being added to Star Wars: A Galaxy Far, Far Away at Hollywood Studios in Disney World, The Force Awakens lead will finally be added to the U.S. version of Star Wars Monopoly.

Hasbro initially stated there was “insufficient interest” for Rey in the game but now have completely changed their tune. It makes you wonder if the boldness of one girl may have made the difference.

Rey’s courage extended to Annie, age 8, who wrote Hasbro with this brave and inspiring letter.

"Dear Hasbro,How could you leave out Rey!? She belongs in Star Wars Monopoly and all the other Star Wars games! Without her, THERE IS NO FORCE AWAKENS! It awakens in her! And without her, the bad guys would have won! Besides, boys and girls need to see women can be as strong as men! Girls matter! Boy or girl, who cares? We are equal, all of us!"

The message was apparently heard loud and clear, when The Force Awakens director, JJ Abrams, sent out a tweet via The Bad Robot Twitter account, encouraging Star Wars fans to literally call out Hasbro on the matter.

As Maz Kanata says in the intro to the Forces of Destiny animated series intro, “The choices we make. The actions we take. Moments both big and small, form us into the forces of destiny.”

It is hard for me to believe that there is little interest in a character that has been in high demand ever since the release of The Force Awakens in late 2015. The seemingly small actions of Emily, Abrams, and the fans who called Hasbro themselves have finally given Rey the justice and inclusion that she deserves.
