New info recently surfaced regarding Maz Kanata and the mysterious D.J. —  the character played by Benicio Del Torro inThe Last Jedi.

We learned via Star Wars Leaks on Reddit that Maz is going to use this D.J. to introduce us to yet another character who could help the Resistance in their time of need,

We don’t know 100% who Maz is bringing to the forefront of the war between good and evil, so we can only speculate for now.

After doing some thoughtful research and debating with fellow Star Wars lovers, I have come to the conclusion that the person could possibly be the one and only Lando Calrissian. I believe he would be the only logical choice and here’s why.

With Maz being the (former) leader of the planet Takodana, that was crawling with criminals, smugglers, and a wide assortment of scum and villainy, she would have connections to some resources that others within the Resistance may not.

Without a place to call home now after her castle was destroyed by the First Order, she is going to need some assistance in helping the Resistance fight the growing evil that is the First Order.

Who better to help than the man who runs Cloud City himself? He has a good standing with General Organa and Luke Skywalker, once he redeemed himself by helping save Han in Return of the Jedi.

Maz and Han Solo had a long history and odds are that Lando was involved in some of those adventures.

He also has an entire (Cloud) city, where the Resistance can hide and/or use his connections to help them get supplies and Intel they need.

Plus, Lando has experience and success in fighting against powerful adversaries, when he piloted his former vessel the Millennium Falcon and aided in the destruction of the second Death Star, defeating the evil Galactic Empire.

Lucasfilm and Disney have also showcased Billy Dee Williams, who plays Lando in the Original Trilogy, at the forefront during The Force Awakens premiere and he had a heavy presence at Star Wars Celebration 2017 in Orlando, meaning that he may have a future role to play in the final two films of the sequel trilogy. Williams also voiced Lando in Star Wars Rebels, proving that point once again.

Other than this recent surfacing, there isn’t any other information out there regarding who this “mysterious new ally” is, but I would bet my last credit on a game of sabaac that it’s Lando.

Find out for sure who this mysterious character is when The Last Jedi hits theaters this December.

Until then, may the Force be with you!
