Luke Skywalker: Sebastian Stan wants to play the role in upcoming films
Luke Skywalker. We have the perfect man for the job and he’s onboard if he ever gets the phone call.
Luke Skywalker is the most beloved hero in the galaxy, brought to life by the iconic Mark Hamill. The brilliance of Hamill’s portrayal of Luke is the character’s sense of goodness and honesty, which is a reflection of Hamill himself.
Now approaching the young age of 70, Hamill is the perfect age to reprise his role of Luke, which he will when The Last Jedi hits theatres in precisely one month from now.
However, with talks of a standalone film featuring Luke Skywalker generating buzz, it’s time for Hamill to pass the baton of young Luke to another.
“There is another Skywalker, ” and his name is Sebastian Stan. Well, not quite yet, but it seems like that dream is closer to becoming a reality.
At a recent Comic Con event, Sebastian Stan expressed his high interest in playing a young Luke Skywalker in upcoming Star Wars content.
"I just want to say here that anytime anyone would like to call me and ask me about Luke Skywalker, I’d be very happy."
No, Mr. Stan, I would be very happy. Actually, it would be extremely exciting. In fact, I’ve been pushing for a standalone Luke film featuring Stan for months now.
Take a look yourself at the spitting image. Without looking at the caption, can you even tell the difference between the two?
Seeing those two stills side by side adds even more exhilaration. Speaking of images of the two, Mark Hamill himself did some photoshopping of his own, returning the favor by super-imposing his face onto Stan’s head.
Now Sebastian Shaw — oops I mean Stan. Sorry, I have Vader on my brain — won’t be playing the role of the father of Luke Skywalker, Darth Vader, but he is the right casting for a young Skywalker, set right after the events of Return of the Jedi.
We also have the perfect actor to portray a young Ben Solo, Finn Wolfhard from Stranger Things.

Alright, Lucasfilm, we’ve done the legwork for you, now you just need to make the phone calls and make this film (or series) happen.
Covering the gap between Return of the Jedi and The Last Jedi would be a perfect timeline for this potential story arc.
Skywalker, Lor Sen Tekka, and young Ben Solo searching the galaxy for Jedi lore, while uncovering Dark (Side) secrets as well. Yes, please!
Plus Sebastian Stan is interested in playing Luke, so it’s a win-win (win).

Do you agree? Would Sebastian Stan be the perfect casting for a young Luke Skywalker? Or, should Lucasfilm and Disney leave the character alone, letting Mark Hamill have total dibs on the legendary character?
