Grammy award-winning musician, John Mayer, goes shirtless for what he’s calling the “Kylo Ren” challenge. He’s inspired others and it’s hysterical.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi has taken the globe by storm since its December 15 release, breaking Box office records and receiving high praise from (most) viewers. The Last Jedi also caught the eye of Grammy award-winning musician John Mayer, with Adam Driver — who plays Kylo Ren — as inspiration.

During the film, Adam Driver goes shirtless during one scene, where the actor has no doubt logged in time inside of the weight room since The Force Awakens.

“A buddy of mine saw Kylo Ren take his shirt off in the shower. And he said that Kylo Ren had an eight-pack. That Kylo Ren was shredded.”

John Mayer is embracing his inner Dark Side, taking to Instagram, showing off his “Kylo Ren bod.”

Mayer is calling his efforts the #KyloChallenge, even wearing the same attire as Adam Driver did for his Kylo Ren wardrobe in The Last Jedi.

Causing a tremor in the Force, many others are taking notice of Mayer’s social media antics. Even the younglings are joining in on the fun, a future Kylo Ren in training, even.

Others are poking fun at the “Kylo Ren challenge,” generating many “LOL” moments from social media followers in the process.

Others are taking more of a serious approach, going all out with the red blade of Kylo Ren as a prop.

While others even don the infamous “childish” mask of the Master of the Knights of Ren.

Like his “grandfather before him,” Anakin Skywalker, Hayden Christensen beefed up between the films, Attack of the Clones and Revenge of the Sith, where he shows off his rock-hard abs also.

We have no official confirmation, but Kylo Ren’s shirtless scene may have been inspired by a Saturday Night Live skit, featuring Adam Driver as Kylo Ren.

During the skit, Driver jests about how “shredded” he is and how he has an “eight-pack.”

Writer and Director for The Last Jedi, Rian Johnson, reveals his intentions for this particular moment, using it to liven-up Driver’s “intimate” scenes with Daisy Ridley, Rey from the film.

"“It’s all about those Force connection scenes. The keyword being intimacy. And the idea that this was a way to just, why not step that up?"

Rian Johnson has generated more intimacy than he originally intended, that’s for sure. And who knows, he may inspire Star Wars fans to embrace a New Years resolution of getting back into top-notch shape for 2018.
