In a deleted scene for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, Luke Skywalker acknowledges strong chemistry between Rey and Kylo Ren.

More news on the Reylo front! Luke Skywalker himself senses the romantic tension between Kylo Ren and Rey – much to his chagrin. In a deleted scene that will be available on the DVD for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, we witness the scene where Rey confronts Luke about him trying to kill Kylo Ren, but with an added line.

During one of their many emotionally charged force connection scenes, Kylo Ren reveals to Rey that Luke tried to kill him (or at least that was his interpretation) when he sensed that he was growing too powerful in the Dark Side of the Force. In a subsequent scene, Rey confronts Luke about this apparent betrayal of his nephew. In the rain, they duel.

Finally, Rey knocks Luke on his butt and demands to know whether or not he tried to kill Kylo Ren, Luke says to her accusingly “you opened yourself to the dark side for a pair of pretty eyes!”

Oh boy! This, combined with all of the little hints and details from the various novelizations, does show that the writers were envisioning some romantic tension between these two characters.

Now, don’t get too hyped up Reylo fans, because this line was extracted from the final cut of this film for some reason. Perhaps that means that they decided that a romance wouldn’t be the best idea for these characters?

Or [perhaps they wanted to maintain the mystery a little longer? Well, I suppose, for now, that is up to our interpretation. It’s up to J.J. Abrams to figure out what direction he wants to take these characters now. We’ll just have to wait for the next movie!
