Solo: A Star Wars Story Denny’s commercial may secretly be a scene from the film (Video)

Solo: A Star Wars Story teams up with Denny’s for a fun new commercial with a (very) young Han Solo and Lando Calrissian. But, there may be more to this commercial than meets the eye.

The duo of Solo: A Star Wars Story and the classic Denny’s Diner have teamed up, as we journey towards the new Han Solo origins film — which is now less than two months away, folks. As we quickly approach the release date of May 25 at lightspeed, thoughts of a full-length trailer come to mind — which the film’s director Ron Howard recently confirmed we’ll receive soon.

In the meantime, Lucasfilm may have used Denny’s as a venue to release a trailer — and even a scene from Solo: A Star Wars Story, without us even realizing it — in this brand-new commercial released Monday at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood, California.

More from Dork Side of the Force

You’re likely wondering why this commercial feels like an actual movie scene; your Force abilities are not deceiving you.

Lucasfilm/Disney and Denny’s brought in the big guns for this minute-long commercial spot, with the likes of Neil Lamont and Neal Scanlan — who’ve worked on Star Wars films such as The Force Awakens and Rogue One.

The dynamic duo of Neil/Neal (maybe I should join them to make a trifecta?) are responsible for the visual aspects of Solo: A Star Wars Story and the overall look/feel of the film.

If my spidey-senses are spot on, this commercial is not only a re-creation of the iconic Sabacc cardgame between Han Solo and Lando Calrissian — which we’ll finally see on screen, in the Solo film — but an exact scene we’ll receive in the movie. Everything about this TV spot screams “it’s a scene from Solo,” and I’m going to trust my instincts.

From the vibe of the cantina itself, Chewbacca looking on, to the alien creatures from Solo making an appearance, and the dialogue between the (very young) actors portraying Han Solo and Lando Calrissian; make it visible. If true, then this is an excellent sign for the quality of the film, with this commercial selling me on Solo in just 60 seconds of airtime.

Denny’s and Lucasfilm/Disney, you all are the real MVP, with a clever way of providing Star Wars fans with another trailer for the upcoming Solo film — subtly, right under our nose. Bravo!
