Star Wars rumors: Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy stepping down this Fall?

Star Wars rumors surface that Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy may step down at the end of 2018. Is there any validity to these rumors? If so, should she step down?

The Star Wars fandom is still recovering from backlash caused by Star Wars: The Last Jediwhich echoed a significant tremor in the Force. Rian Johnson is taking a portion of the heat for “ruining” the childhood of many Star Wars fans across the galaxy.

However, Lucasfilm President Kathleen Kennedy isn’t without “blame,” in fact, many Star Wars fans are asking for her resignation after Solo: A Star Wars Story‘s poor performance at the Box office — which is ridiculous, but here we are with it a plausible reality.

Kathleen Kennedy has given us fans many gifts, with these classics among them.

According to the Ankler, a Hollywood insider newsletter, her run as Lucasfilm President may be over sooner than later.

"While Kathleen Kennedy worked wonders relaunching this property from the abyss of the Lucas prequel trilogy and turning it into a bigger than ever all-devouring cultural force, there has to be more than some thought that it’s time for new blood at the helm. The talk out there is of a September changing of the guards. We’ll see."

How reliable is this particular source? Well, in the past the Ankler has predicted:

  1. Sue Kroll stepping down as the head of WB’s Worldwide Marketing
  2.  Stacey Snider’s interest in joining the Amazon brand
  3. Anticipating the internal management problems and changes at Sony
  4. Glen Mazzara taking over as Dark Tower’s primary “showrunner.”

So, there is some validity to these claims. But, what reason would Kathleen Kennedy have for stepping down as the head honcho at Lucasfilm, most recently known for her involvement in leading the Star Wars franchise? Ankler believes that she’s getting “tired of the job itself” and is likely burnt out.

If she does indeed step down as Lucasfilm President, Star Wars boycotters will take credit for her early “retirement” and celebrate all over YouTube and Social Media.

Congratulations on accomplishing nothing, you toxic losers. You’ve already demoralized one woman in Kelly Marie Tran, so stop while you’re behind.

In reality, she’s been in this business for a long time and is probably ready to enjoy her well-earned retirement. I wish her nothing but the best when that time comes, and she’s done so much for the movie industry over the years — most recently with the beloved Star Wars franchise.

Naturally, the initial thought of her stepping down is looking to the future. Who will replace Kathleen Kennedy possibly this Fall or whenever the time comes?

Lucasfilm would be wise in taking an in-depth look at creative Star Wars genius Dave Filoni, who is the Padawan of George Lucas and knows the Star Wars brand better than anyone across the galaxy.

When Katleen Kennedy decides to pass the torch to Dave Filoni or someone else, we hope it’s on her terms. We cannot let this entitled fake fans win by giving into their demands. Lucasfilm should not negotiate with “terrorists.”

Mrs. Kennedy, you’ve earned the right to leave when you see well fit. Whether it’s Fall of 2018 or 2058, we hope it’s a decision based on your choice, not out of fear.
