Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series is getting its own panel at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con to celebrate the show’s 10th anniversary.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars animated series, which kicked off in 2008 with the release of Star Wars: The Clone Wars on the big screen, became a source of some of the best Star Wars content out there. It also, despite a rough first couple of seasons, became a fan favorite because of its high-quality story arcs and signature Star Wars feel.
Then, when Disney bought Lucasfilm in 2012, it was announced that The Clone Wars series would be inexplicably canceled. Okay, okay… Disney canceled the show in order to move forward and focus on their vision for the Star Wars brand.
There’s also the fact that the series ran on Cartoon Network, so something-something licensing –something, something conflict of interest. Excuses, excuses — blah, blah, blah.
The logic behind the decision to end The Clone Wars doesn’t make it sting any less. Since the move, many have vocally called for the series to return, and despite its continued absence, fans have devoured and subsequently mulled over any tidbit of related news and content.
The success of The Clone Wars is undoubtedly why Rebels featured Ahsoka so prominently in season 2.
Photo Credit: LucasfilmWell, fans of The Clone Wars, rejoice! San Diego Comic-Con will feature an entire panel, including Dave Filoni, dedicated to celebrating the 10 year anniversary of this outstanding series set in a galaxy far, far away.
Details are currently scarce, but, according to starwars.com, Filoni and other “special guests” will look back at the show’s incredible run from 2008 to 2014.
Since the show’s cancellation and therefore abrupt ending, fans have begged and pleaded for an actual conclusion to the series, especially since season 5 ended on a pseudo-cliffhanger.
We’ve gotten a few unfinished episodes in the form of story reels and some related content in novels like Dark Disciple and comics like Son of Dathomir.
At Star Wars Celebration 2016, Filoni himself gave us a detailed look at Ahsoka’s untold tales and explained how he had planned to end her story arc.

The Star Wars animation team even worked Ahsoka Tano and Captain Rex into the story of Rebels, much to the excitement of fans.
It’s evident that The Clone Wars holds a special place in the hearts of Star Wars fans.
Cue speculation.
Yes, this panel will most likely be nothing more than an emotional, celebrated look back at the significance of The Clone Wars series to commemorate its 10th anniversary. But, we love The Clone Wars, and we love to speculate.
Will this panel feature significant content in the style of 2016’s panel about Ahsoka’s story arc after season 5? Will Filoni and company announce that new, full-fledged episodes will be released to give The Clone Wars a proper ending and bring it closer to the events of Revenge of the Sith?
Chances are very slim. But we certainly hope that Disney will somehow, someway give The Clone Wars its due.
