Star Wars comics: Beckett No. 1 leads list of new comics this week

A new Star Wars comic begins along with the continuation of the Poe series, which comes out on August 15. Learn more about the new Star Wars comics coming out.

Another week, another group of new Star Wars comics.

This week, however, there is a new series coming out – one that should excite Star Wars fans.

Beckett No. 1 releases, showcasing a character we met in Solo: A Star Wars Story. Beckett reluctantly took Solo under his wing and the two fought side-by-side, at least for a little while.

Though we didn’t know much about Beckett, he was a character that played a central role in some of Han’s development. What we do know about him: Beckett was in a relationship with Val, owed Dryden Vos for a job, and hung out with an interesting group of creatures. Yet, we didn’t know how Beckett got into this world – and the new Beckett series will give us the backstory.

Personally, I’d like to learn more about Val than Beckett because she was taken from us too soon, but hopefully Val will show up sooner rather than later in the new Star Wars comics series.

Here’s how Marvel describes the Beckett No. 1:

Star Wars Poe Dameron #30

We learned about Black Squadron’s absence from The Last Jedi. They’re on a mission to recruit allies, but it’s not going well so far.

Poe Dameron #30 continues their story showing what they were doing during the Battle of Crait. If you want to keep up with storylines while waiting for Star Wars Episode IX, the Poe Dameron series is a good place to start.

Here’s Marvel’s synopsis of Poe Dameron #30:

"‘AWAKENINGS,’ PART FIVEBLACK SQUADRON had its own mission during the events of THE LAST JEDI, a desperate trek across the galaxy to find aid for THE RESISTANCE, all without the help of their fearless leader, POE DAMERON. This is the beginning of the end."
