With the second season of The Mandalorian just getting started, the Disney Plus series is already known for its inclusion of A-list cameos and disguised appearances from celebrities. In season 1, we saw unexpected introductions of Adam Pally and Jason Sudeikis as stormtroopers, Star Wars director Rick Famuyiwa as a pilot, and Taika Waititi as a droid, to name a few.
This season has proven to be no different, with surprising (and perhaps easy to miss) appearances from well-known celebrities and members of the Star Wars franchise included in the first two episodes. With episode 2, otherwise known as chapter 10, now out, you might be wondering if you missed any familiar faces.
Dave Filoni in The Mandalorian
“The Passenger” included another appearance from Star Wars writer/producer Dave Filoni, reprising his role as a New Republic X-wing pilot from season 1. His character’s name is Trapper Wolf, and in chapter 10, he can be seen along with another pilot who tells Mando that although he has a warrant out for his arrest, they would be letting him go basically for good behavior.
Filoni is known in a galaxy far, far away for his work on Star Wars Rebels, Star Wars Resistance, and Star Wars: The Clone Wars. He’s also written and directed a few episodes of The Mandalorian.
Paul Sun-Hyung Lee in The Mandalorian
As for the pilot who was with Filoni’s Trapper Wolf in chapter 10, that would be Captain Carson Teva, played by actor Paul Sun-Hyung Lee. Viewers might recognize him for his role as Appa in the CBC Television show Kim’s Convenience. In fact, many fans on Twitter have already made the connection, and were happy to see Paul Sun-Hyung Lee’s appearance in The Mandalorian.
To me, it would be a no-brainer to accept a gig on The Mandalorian, no matter how big or small. And of course, the fans love spotting all of these cameos. Here’s to hoping they continue as we get more episodes of season 2!
