Sold-Out Hasbro figure reveals never-before-seen Bad Batch character
This sold-out Hasbro figure pack leaked a new character that will be appearing in Star Wars: The Bad Batch before the season is over.
Before The Bad Batch even premiered, a leaked LEGO set spoiled the major emotional plot point of Crosshair’s inhibitor chip-driven loyalty to the Empire. Now, an Amazon exclusive Hasbro Vintage Collection figure pack has given us a sneak peek at a new “reg” that will be showing up very soon. This isn’t the first reg to cross paths with Hunter and the team, but this one may not be a friend to the Bad Batch the way that Cut Lawquane and Rex were.
In the figure pack, alongside Clone Captain Rex, Clone Captain Grey, and an Elite Squad Trooper, is the aforementioned new character — Clone Captain Ballast.
All of the figures in the pack have already been seen in the series. Clone Captain Grey made his return appearance in “Aftermath” as he turned his blaster on Jedi Master Depa Billaba during Order 66. The Elite Squad Troopers are the new non-clone recruits that Crosshair is overseeing for the Empire. The Rex figure is cloaked in a poncho, just as Rex appeared in the seventh episode of the season when he offered the Bad Batch vital information about removing their inhibitor chips.
The Bad Batch: Who is Captain Ballast?
So what can we tell about Clone Captain Ballast from the figure reveal? Unlike Grey and Rex, to an extent, Ballast’s armor looks like it has gone through some serious combat. His cool aqua paint job is worn-out, etched, and scuffed up. He’s equipped with Phase II clone trooper armor and a DC-15A blaster carbine. While the Tango Company had teal-colored armor in The Clone Wars, we haven’t seen this particular shade of teal before.
Is he another clone that avoided Order 66 or will the Bad Batch go head-to-head with him in their pursuit to get Omega back from Cad Bane?
Fans of The Mandalorian will remember that the team behind the series chose to forgo releasing “Baby Yoda” toys at Christmas in order to preserve the in-show reveal. They are well aware of the fact that toys release ahead of character appearances and that sometimes retailers leak pre-release details. It seems like Disney is being far less cautious with Star Wars: The Bad Batch figures, or perhaps Clone Captain Ballast isn’t as integral to the story as Grogu was.
The question remains: when will we see Clone Captain Ballast?
