Diego Luna is grateful to be a part of Star Wars as a character who represents the common man but admits he finds the dark side alluring.

The actor gave Vanity Fair a lengthy interview and discussed his career so far, expressing his emotions about the final season of Andor. The acclaimed Disney+ series allowed him to explore the backstory of his Rogue One: A Star Wars Story character in detail. It's the opportunity of a lifetime to play a guy who discovers the power he holds to change the world.

While Cassian isn't the typical lightsaber-wielding Star Wars hero, he represents the "downtrodden". To Luna, Andor represents a guy who discovers "that any revolution starts with yourself".

"For me, what I want to do is get involved in things that are important to me."

The actor admits he wouldn't take a role that doesn't reflect our reality. He signed Andor as it "talks about social issues that have always concerned me. I think that if a film or series doesn’t reflect the world we live in and if it doesn’t relate to who we are, it doesn’t matter. For me, what I want to do is get involved in things that are important to me.”

Nevertheless, Diego is just as passionate about Star Wars as the rest of us, even if he doesn't play the typical Star Wars hero. When he and fellow Star Wars legend, Hayden Christensen, sat face to face for an episode of Variety's Actors on Actors, it was clear that Luna was a bit starstruck. He told Hayden that he plays "not just a character, but the character."

That admiration may stem from Luna's childhood love of Star Wars. Despite being the tiniest kid around, he loved to play a Jedi. He admits, “I was the smallest of all my friends, and I went crazy playing Star Wars."

Luna has a bit of Anakin in his soul and admits he was drawn to the dark side like The Chosen One himself. He tells Variety, "I’ve been a Star Wars fan since I was a kid. I grew up with the first trilogy and became a fanatic. I played Jedi with my cousins, although I must admit that part of me was always drawn to the dark side. I can’t deny that."

Perhaps in another lifetime, we'll see Diego Luna portray a Jedi or a Sith. For now, he's Captain Cassian Andor of the Rebel Alliance, and he's ready to do anything it takes to topple the Empire. Andor Season 2 will cover 4 years of his life before Rogue One. These 4 years will cover his rise to the rank of Captain and the sacrifices he makes to get there.

Andor Season 2 streams April 22 on Disney+.
