Star Wars released the official trailer for Andor Season 2, and it's already clear that this season will be a wild departure from the first.

If you planned on getting any work done today, that's too bad, because Disney just dropped the official Andor Season 2 trailer on our heads on a random Monday.

The trailer makes it clear that tonally, this season is a massive departure from last season, so don't expect slow, drawn-out lectures about what it means to be a Rebel and stand up to a fascist regime. While this trailer slaps and bangs hard, it doesn't give much away. There's lots of walking, things being blown up, and constant reminders of the critical acclaim the first season received.

There are shots of Cassian blowing vehicles up, Saw Gerrera and Luthen Rael looking pensive, and Mon Mothma at a festival, appearing happy for once as she dances with complete abandon. There's Bix Caleen, Syril Karn, Deedra Meero, K-2SO, Ruescott Melshi, and the star of the trailer, Director Orson Krennic. Amidst all the pew-pew, the fire, the screaming, and the song playing in the background, the Death Star looms large, and with it, Ben Mendelsohn and all his screen presence serve as a reminder that all this leads to Rogue One: A Star Wars Story.

While the action makes a clear statement about the Rebellion having found its footing, and a method to all the chaotic madness, this trailer is nothing like what I expected. I'm not sure if that's a good thing or a bad thing, but I expected a different, and more emotionally compelling trailer, as Rogue One is quintessential Star Wars and doesn't hold back on emotions. There are emotions and high stakes packed into every action sequence, which makes the Andor trailer seem like it's for a Hollywood action film, instead of a riveting pro-Revolution story of hope and heroism.

There's not much acting we can comment on, as the trailer only shows a few closeup shots of all the main characters, and only a few dialogues for us to make out what's going on. There's nothing I'm particularly excited to see based on the trailer, apart from the return of Orson Krennic, who's as charming, dynamic, and diabolical as we'd expect. The shots of Krennic and his superweapon serve as a reminder of what's to come in a trailer that's overall as different as you could expect from Andor Season 1.

This isn't a criticism by any means, and visually, the show looks excellent. I wish there were a few more dialogues and emotional scenes for us to chew on until the show premieres in April, but this is enough for now and gives us a good idea of the action-packed and chaotic 12 episodes that await us.

An important heads-up regarding Season 2 is that its 12 episodes will be separated into 4 chapters of 3 episodes - which means 3 episodes a week for 4 weeks. The season will end within a month of its premiere, so that's something to think about. Some fans might love this, as it gives us much more Star Wars every week, but others could find it a struggle to make time for 3 episodes, but we can worry about that later.

Andor: A Star Wars Story premieres April 22 on Disney+.
