Dave Filoni knows he has his work cut out for him as he continues to write Ahsoka season 2.

The Ahsoka creator is currently hard at work on season 2 and says he's the sole writer on the project, but it's "a challenge," in an interview with Extra TV.

Filoni went into what it's like to write the second season of Ahsoka Tano's show, which features the return of beloved Star Wars Rebels heroes like Hera Syndulla, Garazeb Orrellios, Sabine Wren, Chopper, and Ezra Bridger.

While Filoni reveals that he's "well into it" in terms of the writing process, he admits that it's "a challenge" to "work some of these arcs through" with so many fans interested in knowing where these arcs will lead.

The Star Wars writer, director, and current Chief Creative Officier at Lucasfilm says he's enjoying it and he's "pretty happy with it." Filoni says he looks forward to working with Rosario Dawson again for season 2.

As for the arcs Filoni mentioned, there are quite a few the second season has to delve into. Fans are curious to know more about Peridea and what power Baylan Skol seeks there. Ahsoka Tano and her Padawan, Sabine, were stranded on Peridea at the end of Season 1, and everyone's curious about what they'll encounter there. Of course, the giant statues of the Gods of Mortis are a pretty big hint of what's to come, and bringing the Mortis Gods mythology to live-action is a big challenge. Previously, they were dealt with in The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels.

Ahsoka season 2 will inevitably reveal more of what Grand Admiral Thrawn has planned, along with the Great Mothers, and how Ezra Bridger and Hera Syndulla plan to counter Thrawn. Hayden Christensen's return in season 2 remains a possibility after he made a brief but highly appreciated appearance as Anakin Skywalker and Darth Vader in episode 5, "Shadow Warrior."

Filoni seems excited but cautious regarding season 2, and perhaps the cautious approach combined with an awareness of the high expectations is a positive sign for fans. It means the final product will be good, and Filoni understands what's at stake here for Ahsoka, his most beloved creation. Filoni knows he can't afford to mess this up, and he doesn't appear to be in any mood to either.

With a lot of shuffling behind the scenes at Disney and Lucasfilm as the focus shifts to movies over Disney+ original series and high-budget shows like The Acolyte getting canceled after one season, there's pressure on Filoni to hit the mark with Ahsoka Season 2. His Mandoverse crossover film likely depends on it.
