Mandalorian: 5 characters Din Djarin should interact with without his helmet
Gladiator II just hit theaters and everyone has been talking about Pedro Pascal's performance as a Roman General in the movie. With The Mandalorian and Grogu scheduled to be released in 2026, fans are anxious to have Pedro back in the Mando suit with the hope that Pascal will get some memorable scenes to enact that showcase his character's growth and development.
In Season 1 of The Mandalorian, we saw a helmetless Din Djarin interact with IG-11, as he was determined not to show his face to a living thing. In Season 2, he had to reveal his face to Migs Mayfeld and a room full of Imperial Officers. All the officers ended up getting blown up with the Imperial facility on Morak, and in the season finale, Din revealed his face in front of Grogu. In that scene, he briefly interacts with Grogu and Luke Skywalker, but after Season 2, he has reverted to his Season 1 strict adherence to the helmet rule.
The movie has a chance to undo the damage Season 3 did to Din as a character, which means we may see his face again.
Here are 5 characters Din Djarin should interact with without his helmet on.
1. Grand Admiral Thrawn
Pedro Pascal and Lars Mikkelsen are both strong performers, so their interaction would be powerful on many levels. As a Mandalorian who strictly adheres to the creed, Din would be a hard nut for Thrawn to crack but interesting on many levels. Thrawn is fascinated with different cultures and their artifacts and knows Mandalorians and their history. Still, Din would be an enigma even to someone like Thrawn. Perhaps the quest to capture Imperial Remnants will lead to a face-to-face confrontation between Mando and Grand Admiral Thrawn. It may seem far-fetched, but it's something to think about.
2. The Armorer
It would be nothing less than poetic justice if Din faced The Armorer without his helmet. She's pivotal to why he has followed the helmet rule so strictly, and it can be argued that Season 3 gave Din plenty of ground to confront The Armorer on her double standards. She allowed Bo-Katan Kryze to remove hers but made Din go through hell to redeem himself for removing his, even though Din did it to save a foundling's life.
Saving a foundling is one of the most honorable things a Mandalorian can do, so there's no reason why Din should've been punished for it. If he does decide to remove his helmet for any reason, it would seem incomplete without a confrontation between him and The Armroer, where Emily Swallow and Pedro Pascal can portray a difference in ideologies.
3. Moff Gideon
When Din was handcuffed and taken away in Season 3, everyone spent a week theorizing what was next, and the majority agreed that Gideon could remove Din's helmet as a way to torture him. After all, every season ended with a Pedro Pascal appearance, so most hoped Season 3 would continue the tradition. However, that wasn't the case, and it seems like a missed opportunity.
Gideon and Djarin have been at war since Season 1, and it would've created more riveting drama to see Din's real expressions toward the man who tortured Grogu. Maybe this scenario is possible if Moff Gideon returns at some point in the future.
4. Peli Motto
Din and Peli have to have a scene where he's not wearing a helmet for no reason other than how funny it would be. Pedro Pascal revealed that he's fond of Amy Sedaris and that she's just as hilarious in real life as her character in the show. Din is usually a serious guy, apart from that one time he chuckled at Grogu's reaction to his name, so we'd love to see him try his hardest to suppress a laugh at one of Peli's rib-tickling remarks.
5. Grogu
Nothing should get in the way of a father's love for his son, especially not a helmet. Removing the helmet when he's alone with Grogu should become the norm for Din now that he's officially a father. These two have come so far, and surely Grogu misses seeing his dad's face. We hope Din will let his son see him whenever he wants.
