Mandalorian: Rosario Dawson praises Pedro Pascal's performance in Season 2 finale
Rosario Dawson praised Pedro Pascal's brilliant performance in The Mandalorian Season 2 finale in the scene where Din Djarin says goodbye to Grogu.
According to Screen Rant's Joseph Deckelmeier, Dawson specifically praised the scene where a helmetless Din Djarin says goodbye to Grogu, who leaves with Luke Skywalker for Jedi training. The Mandalorian's Season 2 finale was an eventful one as it featured the return of Luke Skywalker, who sliced through Moff Gideon's Dark Troopers and helped save Djarin, Grogu, and the rescue team assembled by Djarin to save Grogu.
During the scene, Grogu reaches for Din's helmet with his hand, and his father quickly obliges by removing his helmet. This scene went viral after the episode's premiere, as fans were thrilled to see Pedro Pascal's face for the second straight episode. He removed his helmet in Chapter 15, "The Believer," to complete a facial scan on the planet of Morak to obtain the coordinates to Moff Gideon's ship. "The Believer" was an outstanding episode and featured a long scene in which Din was helmetless and uncomfortable. After this, no one would've expected him to remove it again, but he did.
Pascal was more present on the set of The Mandalorian Season 2 and was in the suit for several episodes, not just the ones where Din removed his helmet. By removing his helmet, Din proved that his love for his son far exceeds his loyalty to the creed and "The Way." Even though he sought to redeem himself in The Mandalorian Season 3, everything he does for Grogu in Season 2 is integral to his character arc and will likely come into play later in his journey.
Pascal's performance in Chapter 16, "The Rescue," was praised widely by fans and critics, and at the time, Variety speculated that he might receive an Emmy nomination. Nomination or not, it's a scene that's etched in our memories forever and meant a lot to Pascal himself. However, despite how positively fans have reacted to seeing Din without his helmet, Pascal has admitted that he doesn't want Din to remove it unless it's for an important scene.
It's great to know that not just fans but even Pedro's Star Wars co-stars, like Rosario Dawson, are fans of his performance in the Season 2 finale. Wouldn't it be cool if the next time Din removes his helmet, it's for a scene with Rosario as Ahsoka? Although "The Rescue" is the last time we saw Din without his helmet, we hope to see more of him as Din Djarn in The Mandalorian and Grogu and future seasons of The Mandalorian.
The Mandalorian is streaming on Disney+.
