The Mandalorian is about to move from Disney+ to the big screen next year with the premiere of The Mandalorian and Grogu. Even then, its impact on television is enduring, and the show has received numerous awards and cultivated a loyal fan base.

Although The Mandalorian has been part of Star Wars canon since 2019, certain questions about the series remain unanswered, and we hope Jon Favreau will answer them in the movie.

Here are 5 questions we have about The Mandalorian 5 years after its premiere.

1. Why did Grogu trust Din?

The Child had no reason to trust Din Djarin when they met each other at the end of The Mandalorian Chapter 1. It seemed obvious Din was there to capture Grogu and take him back to Nevarro. For many fans, the only reasonable explanation is that he shot IG-11 before he could harm Grogu, but the duo's instant connection remains a mystery to this day.

After shooting IG, Din reached towards Grogu with his finger, which is another surprising move. The baby reached back, and the episode ended there. Afterwards, Din seemed less than friendly towards Grogu, but maybe it was the kindest anyone had ever been to the little guy. Is it because Grogu could see through Din's tough exterior and seemingly nefarious motives, or is there more to their connection?

By any chance, could the Force have anything to do with why Grogu trusted Din right away? This is one fascinating aspect of their story I've always wanted to know more about.

2. What is Din Djarin's background?

Din Djarin's backstory has many gaps. We know he's from a planet named Aq Vetina, and its location was recently revealed on the Galaxy map. What we don't know is who his parents were and what their names were. What were their jobs and beliefs, and is he from an important family?

While Djarin grew up on Concordia, we have no information about the Mandalorian who trained him. There's no guarantee these questions will ever be answered, but they're important to a character who has a role to play in the present and future events of Star Wars. At least one aspect of his character that must be explained is his lack of knowledge regarding the Force, Jedi, and the history of Mandalorians.

Even though Bo-Katan is someone Djarin didn't know anything about before he met her during Season 2, as Bo-Katan has had several chances to rule Mandalore, it makes no sense that he knew nothing about her until The Armorer revealed a bit of her backstory to him during The Book of Boba Fett.

3. Who is The Armorer?

Fans will continue to speculate about The Armorer's true identity until it's officially revealed. The Armorer remains the most mysterious character on the show. Even after three seasons of the show plus The Book of Boba Fett, we don't know who she is or what she looks like.

While some fans are tired of Star Wars overexplaining every aspect of the franchise, The Armorer is an intriguing character, and longtime fans deserve to know at least something about who she is. The Armorer is not only knowledgeable about Mandalorian history, but she seems to have a good understanding of Jedi beliefs. This is one character whose backstory is necessary.

4. What were Mandalorians doing on Aq Vetina?

Din Djarin's parents were killed during an attack on Aq Vetina by Separatist droids during the Clone Wars. His parents hid him before they lost their lives, and Djarin was rescued by a Mandalorian who was there with a handful of other Mandalorians on the planet.

But Aq Vetina is a planet billions of miles away from the Mandalore system, so what were these Mandalorians doing on Din's planet? Were they there to look for children to recruit to the Children of the Watch, or was Djarin the only child they rescued that day? If so, is there something special about him and his planet? I hope the movie sheds light on Din's homeworld and its significance.

5. Why was Din Djarin declared an apostate for saving a foundling's life?

I still haven't been able to digest what happened to Din Djarin between The Book of Boba Fett and The Mandalorian Season 3. Why did he have to take a dangerous trip into the living waters on Mandalore and bring proof of his innocence if Bo-Katan was allowed to "walk both ways"?

The Armorer had been a consistently well-written character until her U-turn regarding the helmet rule in season 3. I have no issue with Bo-Katan being able to remove her helmet; my issue is with The Armorer banishing Djarin from their covert. He removed his helmet to save Grogu, so he had a noble purpose.

Has the helmet rule changed now that Bo-Katan has been accepted by Mandalorians as their leader? Will Din still have to prove his worth if he removes it again, and why is he held to a different standard by The Armorer than Bo-Katan?

The Armorer's treatment leads me to believe there's something different about Mando, but only time will tell whether that's true or not, and what it means.

The Mandalorian is streaming on Disney+.
