Star Wars: Starfighter has its next star to join Ryan Gosling in the Shawn Levy film.

The Hollywood Reporter has shared that Mia Goth will star alongside Gosling as a villain in the film. In Starfighter, Gosling will protect a young person from a pursuer, and Goth has been cast to play one of these villains. Now granted, Lucasfilm has not commented on any of this, so always take news like this with a grain of salt.

I've been interested in Starfighter from its announcement, as I think it will be a very important bridging-the-gap kind of movie. It's the first film to take place after the events of The Rise of Skywalker, but will still chronologically be before the Rey Skywalker New Jedi Order movie starring Daisy Ridley. With the government destroyed during the events of The Force Awakens, we don't even know what the galaxy or its leaders even look like in this time period. Starfighter might have to do some very important heavy lifting in establishing a post-Episode IX story.

Gosling and Levy came out with the formal announcement at Star Wars Celebration Japan back in April, giving us some of the earliest details. Set to start filming this fall, Starfighter is set to be a standalone adventure out just in time for Star Wars' 50th anniversary.

Mia Goth has been busy teaming up with Star Wars actors. Gosling isn't the only person she has an upcoming movie with whom she's starring. She will also be in Guillermo del Toro's Frankenstein alongside Oscar Isaac, who plays the titular Victor Frankenstein. Personally, as someone who loves this book and adores Oscar Isaac, I am over the moon to see Goth and him in this movie.

As of right now, Star Wars: Starfighter is set to release on May 28, 2027.
