If you've never heard of Villainous before, it's a Disney board game made by Ravensburger, which is also the creator of the Disney Trading Card Game(TCG) Lorcana. In Villainous, players each control a separate Disney villain and face off against their opponents to complete objectives unique to their villains and ultimately win the game.

In August of 2022, Ravensburger released a Star Wars Villainous base set called Power of the Dark Side, which allowed players to play as five iconic villains from the Star Wars universe. Those villains are Darth Vader, General Grievous, Asajj Ventress, Kylo Ren, and Moff Gideon. The next expansion of the game is set to add new fan favorites to the game.

Star Wars Villainous Expansions adds Grand Admiral Thrawn and Count Dooku

Since its release back in 2022, Star Wars Villainous has received two standalone expansions, with a third one releasing later this year on August 1st. The first expansion titled Scum and Villainy added three new villains to the game. The first two being the fearsome bounty hunters Boba Fett and Cad Bane, with the Seventh Sister from the Inquisitorius being the third. The second expansion, which is called Revenge At Last released in July of 2024 and added the Nightbrother and former Sith Lord, Darth Maul, as well as the chrome-wearing First Order Stormtrooper officer, Captain Phasma.

The third expansion, Cold Tactics, was recently announced and will be released later this summer on July 21. The Cold Tactics expansion is adding the suave and charismatic villains Grand Admiral Thrawn and Count Dooku. The limited-edition cover art for the box with Thrawn posing behind a holo-map looks pretty slick and is a perfect way to represent the type of character he is.

While I do appreciate the Thrawn limited-edition cover art, it's kind of disappointing that there isn't an alternate limited-edition cover art version showing off Count Dooku in a cool pose. Considering he's my favorite Sith Lord, I'd have bought it in a heartbeat.

It's been well over a year since I last played a game of Star Wars Villainous, and now that two of my favorite characters are being added to it, it sounds like the perfect excuse to invite some friends over for a board game night.
