It has been over two years since The Book of Boba Fett ended, and Disney has still not announced whether the series will return for a second season. However, actress Ming-Na Wen, who played Fennec Shand in the series, recently stated that she would indeed like there to be a second season.
Speaking on the podcast known as The Sackhoff Show (which is hosted by fellow Star Wars actress Katee Sackhoff), Wen was quoted as saying the following when asked about the possibility of The Book of Boba Fett being renewed for a second season:
“I think the fans and Temuera and I, we should all do ‘The Book Of Boba Fett’ Season 2. I think there’s a lot more stories to be told and it hasn’t really quite finished and evolved and there’s more so hopefully- I hope”
You can watch the snippet of Wen saying this in the Twitter player below, or you can head over to YouTube to watch the full episode of the podcast.
Wen also appeared as Shand in several episodes of The Mandalorian and reprised a younger version of her in The Bad Batch, so the actress is clearly now a mainstay of the Star Wars galaxy. It would certainly be great to see Wen reprising the role of Shand at some point, but it is currently unclear if this will happen.
The Book of Boba Fett lasted for seven episodes, and it was released on Disney+ from late 2021 to early 2022. It starred Temuera Morrison as the titular bounty hunter who embarks on a quest to bring peace and order to Tatooine after the death of Jabba the Hutt in Return of the Jedi resulted in various crime factions fighting for control of the planet. Morrison previously played Boba Fett in the second season of The Mandalorian, and his portrayal of the character has received widespread acclaim from fans and critics. The supporting cast of The Book of Boba Fett included David Pasquesi, Sophie Thatcher, Jennifer Beals, and Timothy Olyphant, with Pedro Pascal also returning as Din Djarin from The Mandalorian.
Although it remains to be seen if a second season of The Book of Boba Fett will be on the cards, the fact that Wen wants it to happen just as much as the fans do should hopefully mean that Disney will start to listen. It also remains to be seen if Morrison and Wen will return as Boba Fett and Fennec Shand in The Mandalorian & Grogu. Since the film is expected to begin filming in June, we should shortly be receiving definite answers soon.
