Entertainment Weekly's latest interview with Skeleton Crew creators Jon Watts and Christopher Ford confirms that there's a Jedi character in the series.

Watts and Ford discussed working with Jon Favreau and Dave Filoni to create the post-Empire era, which is overrun by scum and villainy and a gang of space pirates we were introduced to in The Mandalorian Season 3. Watts and Ford talked about what the climate was like after the fall of the Empire and how they envisioned bringing the dangers of a lawless galaxy, where a group of children gets lost, to life. Ford also confirms discussions regarding "a whole new kind of Jedi."

The duo also detailed what it was like collaborating with Dave Filoni, whom Watts reveals is something of a "goalkeeper" at Lucasfilm. Watts explains that Dave Filoni's job is to make sure writers and producers know what's creatively possible in the Star Wars galaxy, what's already been done before, and what breaks canon:

"He actually is a great hockey player, but he's also a figurative goalkeeper... And you always end up with a bunch of other episodes of Star Wars to go watch and things to go read, and it's good. You feel like you can safely explore things creatively without making some huge canonical mistake."

Jon Watts.

Co-creator Christopher Ford explains how Filoni's experience working under George Lucas comes in handy, as Filoni understands what fits into Lucas's rules for the Star Wars universe, yet still manages to create something new, like a Jedi we may meet in the series:

"And he gets both sides of that because he did that [mentoring under] George Lucas. So he gets that thing of, ‘I want to make a whole new kind of a Jedi,’ and then someone being like, ‘Okay, hold on. A lot of people have thought about this. Let's do this the right way.’ And it's so helpful."

Christopher Ford.

Even though Ford doesn't name anyone specifically, the "new kind of Jedi" most likely refers to Jod Na Nawood, a character played by Jude Law in the series. So far, it's only been speculated that Law plays a Jedi, but nothing has been confirmed. This might be the confirmation fans have been looking for, and it adds an element of intrigue to the character, who seems to be different than any Jedi we've seen before,

Exactly what makes Jod a different Jedi will be revealed when Skeleton Crew premieres December 3 on Disney+.
