Skeleton Crew episode 4 recap: Putting the "Wars" back in "Star Wars"

God, that was a weirdly dark episode for this overall fun and lighthearted show

The mystery deepened in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew as our four young protagonists, Wim, Neel, KB, and Fern, learned more about why their world was hidden. Along with their scoundrel Force user adult of the group, Jod Na Nawood (or Crimson Jack, depending on who you ask), they spoke to the owl woman Kh'ymm, who helped them possibly locate where their planet, At Attin, might be. Episode 3, "Very Interesting, As An Astrogration Problem," revealed their home is considered one of the hidden Jewels of the Old Republic and might actually have treasures. Running from the New Republic, Jod and the kids blasted off on their next adventures.

Let's recap everything you missed in Star Wars: Skeleton Crew episode 4, "Can't Say I Remember No At Attin."

We open with our hero's ship, the Onyx Cinder, coming out of hyperspace, and they have made it back to At Attin. Jod is in disbelief that this planet of riches is real. Wim is upset they made it home so easily--

And jinxed the whole thing as the ship begins to dive! Their first mate droid, SM-33, explains they are locked into an autopilot landing sequence. The droid brings in the ship himself to a smooth landing.

However, the area is foggy and desolate, not like their idealistic home. There are run-down playgrounds and explosions in the distance. Jod remarks that the air tastes like "ashy dust," reminding him of his home planet.

The kids run off to check on a nearby structure, leaving Jod with SM-33. They go into a nearby building where they notice it is structured like their home, but it's been run down and overran with plants. They want to try and find someone; this planet might not be At Attin, but it might be one of the other Jewels of the Republic.

On the ship, Jod rummages through the kids' bag. He finds Wim's credits, which, a reminder from episode 2, "Way, Way Past the Barrier," are Old Republic credits in mint condition. To the kids, this was just their lunch money. To the pirates, this is a small fortune.

SM-33 snags Jod, slamming him against the wall, screaming, "THIEF!" However, Jod quickly talks him down. SM-33 apologizes, saying that "At Achrann is playing tricks on me memory circuits!" He then confirms that this planet is At Achrann, not the children's home of At Attin. However, SM-33 once again says he can't remember where their sought-after destination is. Jod wants to try and jog his memory.

As the kids are exploring, they come across a broken statue missing its head in a town square. They muse about who it could be-- But oh no! They're suddenly surrounded by two masked people, two kids including a girl. The teen says they are Troik, and they need to get away from the Hattan patrol. There's an explosion nearby, and the teen leads them to hide.

Wim is incredibly excited there is more adventure happening and thinks the Troik are very cool.

The Hattan patrol marches by, complete with a massive tank and their herd of eopies (like Obi-Wan Kenobi's faithful mount in his titular show). Once they pass, the Troik agree to take our heroes somewhere safe.

The group moves through the ruins of a destroyed world, with the buildings and cities wrecked from fighting. As they come up to a building, Wim realizes it's designed just like their school back home. Inside, there's a small market and a gathering of people. The teen tells the leader, who is her father, that she found their stolen eopies with the Hattans.

It's here the kids are introduced to General Strix, the head of the Troik warriors and "the one true ruler of At Achrann." He explains that this world treats children as adults, like his daughter Hayna (one of the masked kids), and welcomes them as soldiers.

Fern asks for directions, and Strix explains they only concern themselves with offworlders to trade with them for weapons. Meaning, this planet, unlike At Attin, does know about outside the galaxy. Hayna brings up a place called the Fallen Sanctum, which might have something that could help them. There are apparently planet coordinates carved into the walls.

Strix thinks it's too dangerous for them to go, but makes them a deal: If the kids train with his warriors, he will then decide whether or not they can go.

Back on the Onxy Cinder, Jod leads SM-33 outside to try and jog the old droid's memory of At Attin. However, all SM-33 can remember is the planet they're on now and a bunch of warriors... which happens to be surrounding them right now as the Hattans find them. Jod surrenders to them.

With our young heroes, Neel doesn't wish to train with the others, something that Hayna says is very wise. She takes him to the roof where everyone lives. Neel asks about their war, which sounds like a generational feud back and forth with farmers attacking the herders. Hayna wants to be the one to lead her clan to victory. She opens a dome of what looks to be an observatory, but it reveals a massive gun the size of a ship which keeps them safe.

Neel is upset by the war, explaining that they have no fighting on At Attin. Hayna explains that this is just their way of life: War is part of that. Neel asks her if it will ever end if both sides keep on raiding each other. He would just say sorry and work towards peace. Hayna looks like that's something to consider even if Neel comes from a "weaker clan."

They return to the other kids training where Strix says that Fern will lead them all into a battle. It's not a choice, and the kids are now forced to fight.

The group moves out into the city, and the kids are forced into being scouts. With blasters pointed at them because deserters are shot, they go into the battlefield. Neel gets scared, so Hayna chooses to accompany them.

As they fearfully move forward, a cry comes out of the fog. It's Jod and SM-33 who both return the eopies. The only payment they want is Wim, Fern, Neel, and KB to come back with them. Neel and Wim hug Jod while the girls thank him, making the scoundrel a bit uncomfortable with the warm fuzzy feelings.

For proving their bravery, Hayna agrees to take the group to the Fallen Sanctum.

While on the trip, Jod reveals that he took Wim's money to purchase the heard of eopies from the Hattans, which is how he got free. The kids are upset, but they can't linger on this as they have arrived to the Sanctum. It is this planet's version of the Supervisor's Tower on At Attin, where no one on the planet is allowed inside.

Against Neel's protests for her to join them, Hayna says her goodbye. She can't leave her people, but she wants to remember Neel's ways, saying, "My world could use some kindness." But she does give him a little kiss on the cheek before she runs off again.

The group gets to the Sanctum, riding the elevator up to the top. Inside are massive ruins with pillars revealing other planets like At Aytuu, At Arissia, At Aravin, and At Acoda with galactic coordinates on them. Then, Neel finds At Attin!

However, the coordinates have been broken off...

And SM-33 reveals why he's been saying the title of the episode "Can't Say I Remember No At Attin!" the entire time: He's the one who broke off the coordinates last time he was on this planet with his old captain. Fern is furious at this revelation, running off. KB wonders if they can repair SM-33's memory.

Wim follows Fern finding her crying by the window. She admits she has no idea what to do anymore. She's scared, but Wim admits that he wouldn't have gotten them as far as Fern did. He thinks she's amazing and believes in her. That just makes her more mad because she can't magically figure it out.

But maybe Wim's faith isn't misplaced because then Fern gets an idea. Droids do what they're told, and she realizes he was ordered not to reveal At Attin's location. As his captain, she orders him to remember everything about their home.

SM-33 then remembers, saying how his previous captain murdered anyone who saw the coordinates to At Attin. Then, the droid was orered that if anyone asked about the treasure planet, SM-33 is to murder them too.

He rises up, ready to attack Fern and KB. Then, Neel chucks a rock at the droid! Before SM-33 can hurt the kid, Jod slaps the droid's off switch.

With Neel fainting from the excitement, this is where Skeleton Crew episode 4, "Can't Say I Remember No At Attin," comes to a close.
