Star Wars will be well represented at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards!
The nominees for the 82nd annual Golden Globe Awards were revealed this morning, and the list includes some notable Star Wars names. Ewan McGregor, Felicity Jones, and Diego Luna are among the Hollywood heavyweights up for awards next month.
Star Wars prequel trilogy and Obi-Wan Kenobi star, Ewan McGregor, is nominated for Best Television Male Actor - Limited Series, Anthology Series, or Television Motion Picture for his work in A Gentleman in Moscow, which co-stars his wife, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who plays live-action Hera Syndulla. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story's Felicity Jones is nominated for Best Supporting Female Actor - Motion Picture forΒ The Brutalist, which co-stars Adrien Brody and Guy Pearce. Rogue One and Andor star Diego Luna is nominated for Best Supporting Male Actor - Television for La Maquina, which co-stars his real-life best friend, Gael Garcia Bernal.
McGregor was nominated for Golden Globe Awards several times, including one for his work in Obi-Wan Kenobi. His last win came in 2018 for Fargo. Jones' last Golden Globe nomination was for her work in The Theory of Everything. Luna also received a Golden Globe nod for his portrayal in Andor, although he didn't take home the award. Their nominations today come after months of appreciation for their latest work.
On the Star Wars front, Luna will reprise his role as Cassian Andor in Andor season 2, premiering April 22, 2025. Jones' return hasn't been confirmed, but the actress recently provided a positive update regarding Jyn Erso's future. As for Obi-Wan Kenobi, McGregor remains optimistic that Lucasfilm will need his services again, as there are plenty more stories to explore about Kenobi that take place before A New Hope.
If you're wondering how Star Wars has fared at the Golden Globes recently, The Mandalorian and Andor have received Golden Globe nominations for Best Drama Series, but didn't take home any hardware. Although no Star Wars series is nominated this year, fans can watch the ceremony on Jan. 5, 2025, live at 5 PT and ET on CBS to cheer on Star Wars favorites McGregor, Luna, Jones, and many more celebrities as Hollywood comes together to celebrate excellence in film and television.
