Daisy Ridley Teases Rey’s Parentage in Star Wars: Episode VIII
It has been rather quiet on the Star Wars: Episode VIII front, as of late, but thanks to a recent interview from Daisy Ridley (Rey in The Force Awakens), we have a new hope that we’ll find out about Rey’s parents in Episode VIII…
Website Vulture recently interviewed actress Daisy Ridley about a film she’s narrating titled The Eagle Huntress, and of course, the conversation swung toward Star Wars: Episode VIII, and the mystery surrounding Rey’s parentage.
One of the biggest mysteries surrounding Star Wars: The Force Awakens, was the question of who were Rey’s parents. More to the point, fans want to know who Rey’s father is, as speculation has been rampant in that regard. Is Rey a Skywalker? Could she be a Kenobi? There’s even a rather convincing theory that she is the descendant of Emperor Palpatine.

Whatever theory you subscribe to, Daisy Ridley promises that we will get that answer in Star Wars: Episode VIII, in December of 2017:
"“We will see in a year. Just sit tight on that question.”"
Well then, that is most certainly exciting news, as many fans, myself included, did not think that we would get that particular answer until the final film in the new trilogy, Star Wars: Episode IX. Ridley was asked about the theory that Jyn Erso (Felicity Jones) from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story was Rey’s mother, but after some quick, on the spot math, the actress shot that down.
