Star Wars fans are still in mourning over the loss of Star Wars iconic actress, Carrie Fisher, and her fans are starting a petition to make Leia an official Disney Princess…

Since the tragic death of Star Wars icon, Carrie Fisher who portrayed Princess/General Leia in the Star Wars Cinematic Universe, fans have been in mourning. There has been an outpouring of tributes and support from Star Wars fans, across all mediums. Such as lightsaber vigils, and in-game tributes from players of Star Wars: The Old Republic.

Now, according to TIME, there is a petition that has been started on Change.org, that is requesting Disney to officially make Leia part of the Disney Princess line. The petition was started by Cody Christensen who is asking that Disney holds a ceremony inducting Princess Leia into the Disney Princess line, as well as holding a special service in memory of the actress who played her — Carrie Fisher.

"After the tragic [loss] of Carrie Fisher, we feel that it is only fitting for Disney to do away with the rule that an official Disney princess must be animated and make Leia a full-fledged princess. This would be a wonderful way to remember Carrie and a welcoming to one of Disney’s new properties that [are] beloved by millions."

Currently, there are 37,000 of 50,000 signatures on the petition, leaving just 13,000 more to make it official. TIME does note that The Disney Princess franchise, which is separate from the other individual Disney princesses is an exclusive club, so to speak. Princesses like Snow White, Cinderella, Tiana and Merida from Brave are currently in the Disney Princess line, however, Elsa from Frozen is not.
