A new Funko reveals Luke’s possible connection to the Dark Side in The Last Jedi

A fan on our Facebook page discovers a possible major Luke Skywalker The Last Jedi reveal…

One of my favorite things about working for Dork Side of the Force is interacting with fellow Star Wars fans. From discussing fun theories, talking canon lore, to arguing — I mean discussing — how great Hayden Christensen is as Anakin in Episode II, and much more.

Like me, some of you fans bought the newest Luke Skywalker Funko-Pop!.

Last night, I dove into the comments section discussing Force Friday II with you awesome people and found this gem (Thank you Andy Mixon!) from a fellow fan who had also purchased this nifty bobblehead and discovered this:

If you look closely, you can see a necklace around Luke’s neck. It’s not immediately visible on the bobblehead, but when you lift up Luke’s head, it’s clear as day.

I initially thought that it could be the japor snippet of Luke’s mother, Padme, that his father Anakin gave her when he was a young boy.

Upon closer inspection, it looks to be a lightsaber crystal. Not just any crystal, but a red one. What would Luke be doing with a lightsaber crystal around his neck? Whose could it be?

More from Dork Side of the Force

I have no proof and this is only my personal speculation, but I believe that it’s the crystal of his father Darth Vader’s Sith lightsaber.

Hear me out. The Last Jedi teaser trailer ends with Luke saying “it’s time for the Jedi, to end.” In the past, trailers find a way to give us only part of the actual scene and Luke could add more to his statement in the film, changing the entire context. I don’t believe this to be the case here, however.

What if Luke discovers that his father, Anakin, had been right about the Jedi? In Revenge of the Sith, Anakin tells Obi-Wan, “I’ve seen through the lies of the Jedi.” What if Luke has discovered the same truth?

Rian Johnson initially had stated that the new line of toys from The Last Jedi Force Friday II release would not contain any spoilers. However, with this recent discovery and the reveal of D.J.’s Funko-Pop!, maybe that is only true from Rian Johnson’s certain point of view.

We want to hear from you: Do you think Luke Skywalker is wearing the red Kyber crystal from Darth Vader’s lightsaber around his neck? Let’s discuss in the comments and on Facebook!
